In politics clarity is its own opportunity. The storm of the 2024 election has created great clarity. The richest man in the world, Elon Musk, and 3rd richest man in the world, Jeff Bezos, are currently asking a group of Trump judges to end the right to organize & join a union in the United States.

Writer: The cup glistened with condensation, reminding me of summers past and the August night my mother died, thrown from her horse into a dark ravine.

I hate it with a BURNING passion, it's the most embarrassing thing a person can have, have burst into tears MULTIPLE TIMES because, eg, someone had to cancel drinks because they had to work late, always passes after 5-10 minutes but it's MORTIFYING, my kingdom for some emotional regulation
Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria really screws you up - I wrote about it in my next book but I think I should have written more

Repeating my helpful little mnemonic song from Twitter:

If he'll drive you to the criming, he's a Fed 👏👏
If he'll drive you to the criming, he's a Fed 👏👏
If you can't get there without him
And you don't know much about him
If he'll drive you to the criming, he's a Fed 👏👏
after another long day of browsing old court documents, i just want to remind everyone that if a stranger agrees to do something illegal with you and they keep asking you to say out loud what the illegal plan is, that’s because the officer is recording you.

I was surprised when they featured it on a banner ad on the website for me. It's definitely not getting any attention, though. They're putting nothing behind it.

Here's the trailer

59 years ago this month scientists warned the president about the "vast geophysical experiment" of burning fossil fuels and releasing CO2 into the atmosphere.

"The climatic changes that may be produced by the increased CO2 content could be deleterious from the point of view of human beings."

This Trans Day of Remembrance, the only message I have is:

It's not enough to remember us, you need to support us while we're still here.

Imagine being the first trans person in Congress and your first official act is to agree with the Republicans that you're lesser form of human.

"I'm not here to fight about bathrooms" except, yeah Sarah, you ARE. Are there not trans people in Delaware whom you represent?

DO NOT COMPLY IN ADVANCE.
1. Transgender Congresswoman Sarah McBride has announced that she will comply with Speaker Johnson's policy declaring her a man and banning trans people from bathrooms.

She is receiving sharp critiques from those with trans friends who work in the capitol.

The bias and partisan control of these institutions isn't a natural fact. It's a product of neglect by Democratic politicians to reshape the rules of the game where & when they could to enrich & reinforce the institutional avenues available to them to realize their policy goals.
The Senate and Supreme Court are *extremely* tilted against Democrats and could stay that way for a long time
Obviously, the Democrats are still reeling from Trump's win, and there is focus on what Harris could or should have done differently (not much, probably!). Yet, the Dems' biggest long term issue is the Senate. The Democrats desperately need to expand the Senate map. 1/x

There is really no such thing as stable, moderate conservatism and this idea that we need a "sane" conservative party to balance out politics is baby brain stuff. Rightoids who aren't explicitly genocidal freaks are at best dedicated to enriching themselves at everyone else's expense

what we do know is that accepting Republican framing signals to voters that there is a real issue there, because both sides are telling them there is

at which point they naturally gravitate toward the side promising the more extreme solution: the Republicans
