This man is the fucking supervillain of our time. Pick something wrong with America right now and there is a 98% chance it can be tied back to his administration in some way. Believing he was good for this country in any way is automatically disqualifying to me.
The presidency once served as a reminder of our common humanity. Ronald Reagan described its purpose as building "a nation composed of good and decent people."

I am going to watch The Princess Bride over Christmas for a multitude of reasons and I swear to fucking god if a certain person behaves toward it the way they did toward LOTR last year I am going to detonate a metaphorical nuclear bomb in my family and I will not be sorry.

I was five years old the first time I saw The Princess Bride. I got the DVD in my Easter basket when I was eight. My dad and I would watch it together every time it was on TV. I’ve seen it so many times that I have every word of it memorized.

re: prev, in my college BusComm class we had to give a speech about one thing we would change about the business school. Opposite to many of my classmates, mine was about how the business school should require MORE gen eds.

This is actually a good example of why the customer model is wrong.
I wouldn't have chosen poetry writing, but UNC made me take a class. And it absolutely made me become a much better writer, with an eye to concision and an ear now trained to the rhythm of words. I'm a better historian as a result.

If you are providing me with an education that is low utility in the world then it’s a disservice. My composition class spent four weeks on poetry. I’m sorry, but that only would’ve been useful if I wanted to be a poet. I don’t need to know iambic pentameter in order to be a victim advocate.

Andddd this is why my parents and I regularly discuss how many members of the proletariat have convinced *themselves* that they are the bourgeoisie.
I keep seeing random flashes of “NO they’re PETIT BOURGEOISIE” being argued about various arguments, and look, I’m begging you to understand that we have to update our understanding of Marx for a modern economy.

The whole Bari Weiss thing is just super fucking weird to me cause like… while I am younger than her, we had some of the same teachers as teenagers. I know what she was taught. I know how we were encouraged to think. She has gone so far off the rails and those teachers would be ashamed.
