Irony is officially, terminally, dead
Mike Johnson: "They berated a Capitol police officer, screamed at him. He was merely standing his post. It shows, again, their disdain for law enforcement, the Democrats, screaming, assaulting officers."

It's finally time for Skinktober!

Trump is asking us to start choosing groups we're willing to abandon, and the only way to make him stop is to be clear we're not fucking abandoning ANYONE.

Call your reps. Call your fucking reps. Especially in red states. Use the @5calls.org app, it's easy and free.

1. You may have heard of book bans before, but the new one in Alabama takes the cake.

The Alabama Public Library Service has a new proposal that would ban—get this—only "positive depictions" of trans people.

The hearing is next month. Public comment is open.

"Positive Depictions" Of Trans People Banned In Alabama State Libraries Proposal
The code change that has been proposed does not ban negative depictions of transgender people, however. Public comment is open until October 14.

Woah 😨🤯
The 6-5 Fire has burned over a large chunk or serpentine rocks and soil that make up the Red Hills ACEC. It is home to many amazing endemic species of flowers and even extremophile fish. Recent studies show hot fires on serpentine soils creates hexavalent chromium. 😬😬

9 includes habeas corpus, the courts' review of unlawful detention & imprisonment

This gov't can't change the Constitution w/ sneaky editing, but it's a new low: constitution.congress.gov/constitution/

In areas hit by Texas floods, officials were sent over $5 million in federal ARPA funds in 2021.

They didn't want to spend it on flood warning systems due to their disdain for Biden - and didn't send it BACK because it might go to a blue state, and "values that we in Kerr county don't agree with."

As Congress cuts clean energy tax credits, Georgia solar jobs could be at risk
In Georgia, clean energy investments were expected to create more than any other state. But this week, Congress is debating a budget bill that would slash tax incentives for clean energy that advocates worry could put new solar and electric vehicle industries at risk.
