Just a lawyer, cross about injustice and the world burning. Typos, terrible jokes, and pointing out the law. Anon as thoughts my own.

I’m unfollowing accounts posting Boomer Facebook style “repost if you agree” photos with “inspiring” messages without ALT text especially when they’re AI.

The point of this site is saying things.

Say something cool.

Say something uncool..

Say anything at all…

The extent to which we can reach parents and stop them from cooperating with this is gonna be crucial. Any trans kid engaging with the NHS *at all* will be harmed more than they would be by simply leaving their dysphoria untreated (and way way more than DIY on the quiet).
This is in addition to some awful physical tests, an abusive assessment and approval process, awful coercion, terrible and abusive power dynamics, it is just so bad.

Why is anyone who claims to care about trans kids defending this?

There is no context in which grown cisgender adults questioning Trans+ kids and teenagers about their sexual experiences or body parts is acceptable

It’s profoundly inappropriate - and frankly, creepy as fuck

Systemic clinical malpractice is the standard within NHS cis-controlled Trans+ healthcare
"Body Image Scale – Gender Spectrum (BIS-GS) (a horrific tool that asks children to assess how much they hate all their body parts); the ALSPAC Romantic Relations (which in spite of its name asks totally irrelevant and intrusive questions about the sex life of those aged 12-17).

I hadn't quite appreciated that every senior researcher involved in the NHS puberty blocker trial has direct ties to SEGM, a designated hate group. We have an anti-Trans, USA hard right backed group pulling the strings behind the UK NHS puberty blocker trial. It is rotten to its core. Zero Trust.
The puberty blocker trial is about to start according to the BBC, led by Dr Emily Simonoff. The same Dr who spoke at a symposium organised by Segm, a group designated an anti trans hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Centre /1

Nothing to see here, just @thetimes.com having to apologise for calling an anti-trans group anti-trans.

The British media's complicity in instigating and prolonging moral panics targeting vulnerable minorities will be studied for years to come.

Some leaked (not verified) info on the puberty blocker trial linked here. In my own thread I will briefly highlight the two key measures they are prioritising. A short thread 1
A Substacker named Ben Ryan tweeted that "the long-awaited UK puberty blocker clinical trial protocol is out."

Shortly thereafter he deleted the post. I can't find a public version of the protocol but here's what I was able to salvage from the screenshot + post.

Those of you who know my work know that misgendering on death certificates has been a preoccupation of mine for several years now. I have been really concerned to hear that even though we now have specific guidance on the issue, there are some Coroners who have not been following it.
The tendency of Coroners to ignore guidance from the Chief Coroner, the reality of trans existence, and the wishes of bereaved parents, and express their own views in the death certificate, is both contemptible and unlawful.

We have a legal team ready to go; we will challenge it in the High Court.

Kathleen Stock has written an article against "abortion permissiveness". She claims abortion requires "justification" saying the state should limit "unacceptable decision-making" by women about their own bodies.

This is who anti-trans activists proclaim as the feminist thought leaders of our time.

The reality is that actual LGBTQIA+ networks are full of people fighting this anti trans campaign because it’s wrong.

Obviously, there’s self interest, but that comes long after the injustice…

…I’m not hearing arguments for Vichy assimilationism like the quoted tweet:
Who does this …reptile… think she is speaking for anyone else?

That BBC report yesterday?

Co-byline Ewan Somerville formerly of The Telegraph.

Notable for his transphobic moral panic pieces over the course of several years…

…moved to the BBC over a year ago.
Fixed it for you. Idiots! If the exclusion is based on appearance then it will certainly impact cis folks as well as trans folks.

This is a dark and dangerous path.

The government has said it won’t be rushed, and I sincerely hope this means that Ministers will reject any EHRC guidance that further harms trans people.

Parliament should instead make clear in legislation that “single-sex spaces” are to be trans-inclusive.

Encouraging the policing of public spaces based on appearance and gender stereotypes is no way for a human rights regulator to behave.

The EHRC’s proposed Code of Practice is a misogynist’s charter, and the government must reject it.

1/🧵 According to the leak reported by The Times, the EHRC’s draft Code of Practice states that there is no document in this country that proves biological sex, and that trans people may refuse to disclose anything.

I regard this as another success of my legal action.

i think if @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social implements that ehrc guidance it might be the start of the end for 'gender critical'.

that guidance is going to negatively impact cisgender women more frequently than it harms trans women simply by dint of there being more cisgender women in the country.

I have also to say, again, shame on the UK Supreme Court. Whatever led us here, it is absolutely not its apolitical application of the law.

Am increasingly with the very senior UK barrister who is telling her colleagues: "at least with the US Supreme Court you know what their politics are."
At least it's honest, right? Intrusive questioning of women who don't conform to norms about how they should look, and women then being banned if they tell their inquisitor to mind his own sodding business, has always been the logical end point for the patriarchal project that is TERFdom.
