Once when we wanted to show the ineffectual dithering of The Good Place Committee, we had one of them say, "There are rules, procedures. This is The Good Place -- we can't just *do stuff.*" We almost didn't include it, because we thought it was a little on the nose.
WELKER: Massie and Khanna say they are looking at options including impeachment and contempt for DOJ officials. Would you support those steps?

KAINE: I think that's premature

Look, it's not important, not at all, but it gave me great joy to watch episode 7 of #pluribus and note the Inigo Montoya #princessbride reference, in this week of all weeks. Bless you, Vince Gilligan

I've never been bothered to look this nonsense up: that Richmond swimming baths closed down their slides because of razorblades shoved through them. I've even known older kids who claimed to know the culprit.
Whereas I do actually know who set fire to the school gym. Everyone had that wrong
Fence #26 will be a special on all things print, and in tribute to the storied history of the UK gutter press, our letters page wants your GOSSIP & SCANDAL.

So, we're asking you all: what was the most scandalous (true or false) bit of gossip that dominated your school or neighbourhood growing up?

Writing an hour of comedy that's charming, cohesive and brutally biting is rare. To do it in the space of a couple of weeks is an actual miracle. This is a set that should take a year to be this good. You'll not regret watching it. What a talent.

Trump: "AOC -- look. I think she's very nice. But she's very low IQ, and we really don't need low IQ. Between her and Crockett, we're gonna give 'em both an IQ test to see who comes out best. I took a real test at Walter Reed medical center and I aced it. Now it's time for them to take a test."

An alert to all creatives using #WeTransfer. Basically, stop immediately! As of August, they will begin scraping everything you send for AI purposes (see the new paragraph in their Terms and Conditions below).

If, like me, you’re a voice artist, they’ll clone your voice. Avoid at all costs.

Of all realities, we are where Arnold Schwarzenegger sends an email newsletter explaining research into "cognitive debt" in relation to the use of AI and its detrimental effect on the user's ability to think independently... I'm glad it's happening but I'd have lost a bet 10yrs ago if you'd told me

I finally got around to watching M during lockdown. It is not the movie you expect. In fact, it races through about five genres (horror, chase, police procedural, heist, courtroom drama) so deftly, and Lorre is extraordinary. Fritz Lang showing off in the best way.

Watch it
It’s Peter Lorre’s birthday.
M is a masterpiece & his acting in this scene is ridiculously powerful as he is put on ‘trial’ by Berlin’s criminal underworld. youtu.be/jUDUbxsNjV0?...

The perfect Starmerist trifecta in action: impoverishing UK institutions, with a cruel + bigoted law, that won't appease, or even be noticed by, a single racist who doesn't already vote Labour.

With zero tactical benefit, you'd almost think this Labour govt are simply very racist themselves.
The Home Office will restrict work and study visas from nationalities who are most likely to overstay and claim asylum. Visas will be rejected for individuals who fit the profile of someone who will go on to claim asylum and are from countries with high rates of asylum.

Look, I don't usually tag people, but I'm reading John @scalzi.com new book When The Moon Hits Your Eye, and I can feel the vitriol coming off the pages... I'd like to state here and now that it feels a lot like Pratchett in full-tilt, sort-yourselves-out-humanity mode and I love it so very much.
