It's a dark time for artists. Many are struggling!

It's easy to buy gifts online. When you buy from *artists*, you're supporting working people, instead of making rich jerks richer.

This fall, send your present $$ to an artist's shop!

Artists! Drop your shop links!

Another species no longer on the global Endangered list:
Humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae).

A few decades after a Star Trek movie where the central conflict was the total extinction of the humpback, their numbers are rising fast enough to put them at "Least Concern" on the IUCN Red List.
a man with a mustache says there be whales here in a dark room
Alt: Scotty from Star Trek Original Series (played by Jimmy Doohan) says there be whales here in a Klingon vessel's cargo hold.

Hey, I wrote some prose and it’s included in here with lots of talented folks! It’s still dark and includes creatures and fallible humans though, so maybe not such a departure after all. a.co/d/2NluWRX

Thank you to @loutambone.bsky.social for shepherding this very special project!

if you are food insecure for both the humans and pets in your household there is a tool called Pet Help Finder that can help locate pet food banks nearby and other free or reduced price assistance and supplies for pets.
no one, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE, should have to give up their pet bc of this.

I get SO many of these. Truly annoying.
It’s REALLY annoying.
The AI generated scam emails from nonexistent book groups (that try to extract some sort of fee) and phony book marketing/promotion ‘experts’, both trying to scam vulnerable authors, are out of control. The sheer number I receive daily is nuts.
AI generation makes them un-filterable.

Another “book club offers to highlight YOUR book” scam.

Yes, The Space Between is my precious baby and I’d love for more folks to read it. I’d love for book clubs to read it! I think Danny Luckert and I made something cool and heartfelt. So paws off, bots and AI scams! It’s a book for humans only!

This. Exactly this.
I know I'm not alone in this but I plan on being absolutely insufferable about how Dems should be vocally pro trans at bare minimum. I'm sorry Harris lost and everything but the center est. Dem insistence we should go more right & throw everyone under the bus was infuriating garbage.

Very bad news. Teen Vogue was doing work other journalists were not.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Very, very few comic book creators can survive on just the money they make from comics. It is an inherently unstable job and it is only getting worse as time goes on. Don't ever be embarrassed or ashamed of needing another job so that you can keep making comics.
