over the weekend, i was like, "maybe we should maintain a list of places that are closing for the strike." after a few days, i was like, "maybe it would be easier to maintain a list of the restaurants that *aren't* closing for the strike."
Fridays Are a Tough Night for Restaurants to Close. Scores of Twin Cities Establishments Are Doing it Anyway. - Racket
‘It's worth it to stand with our community in this strike,’ says one restaurant owner of the upcoming ICE Out! statewide shutdown.

We are in fact DESPERATE for winter coats, waterproof gloves, and good boots. We get so many wonderful donations but it is so cold and the numbers of unhoused unsheltered people are going up at the absolute worst time for it, and we run out of coats weekly.
The frigid Twin Cities temperatures will hurt the homeless; so do not gloat about the impact on ICE without also stepping up here:
If you're still able to help Minnesota, @supplydepotmpls.bsky.social is always accepting donations. $10 buys a pack of handwarmers. If you were given Amazon gift cards this year for Christmas, you can shop their Amazon wishlist: linktr.ee/sanctuarysup...

ICE just confronted us in our car saying it’s our first & final warning. There’s nothing illegal about driving your car safely on Stinson, Lowry, or any street in our community.

They are purposefully surging at school get out times terrorizing our families. Ice needs to stay away from our kids.

One of the ripples caused by ICE’s horrific actions is the need for people to open their houses to pets of victims of abductions.

Please consider helping my friend raise money to take care of some of these pets!

ICE just indiscriminately stopped a citizen at a bus stop in front of the co-op. If this is how they treat the President of the Minneapolis City Council who is legally observing, just think of what they’re doing to everyone else in our City.

There’s been heavy ICE activity around Lowry & Central today. If you have capacity to come out or work from a coffee shop on Central we need more people out to keep our neighbors safe. defend612.com

Evict ICE, not us.

Allowing our neighbors to be evicted because ICE has made it impossible for them to pay rent is unacceptable. Minneapolis needs an immediate eviction moratorium to keep people in their homes.

ICE rammed into a car at 34th and Park And then began to question the immigration status of U.S. Citizen Latino’s they crashed into.

They also deployed chemical irritants into the eyes of the press. Abolish ICE now.

I was just denied access to the ICE processing center at the Whipple Building.

Members of Congress have a legal right and constitutional responsibility to conduct oversight where people are being detained.

The public deserves to know what is taking place in ICE facilities.

Mpls & Chicago
It's very clear from the commentary exploding on the timeline right now that hardly anyone outside Chicago knows ICE shot and killed a man in his car here in the fall.

It's probably not your fault—too much news.

But if you're choosing to jump in & *report* today, please contextualize. Thanks.

Your favourite new TV hyperfixation did not magically make everything better - it went out of its way to not show the reality of how bad it really is, *because* that would be upsetting to you and not fit with the conventions of the genre.

& help Dani.
I work monday & Tuesday, I'm going to have to call out tomorrow and see if I can make it up on Saturday or something but I need my car before Wednesday because I doubt I can pick it up since it's Christmas eve, and I have to go back to my mom's to not miss christmas with my kids

We have received so many donations and we are still almost out of blankets AGAIN. If you have extras, if you can go to the Goodwill By the Pound locations, if you can find a bag sale, we give them out at the same rate as we are getting them in, it is dangerously cold out.
Sanctuary Supply Depot is keeping our neighbors warm! Who can join me in sending some $ to fill their Venmo back up so they can keep going?
PLEASE donate to our Venmo! We have trusted friends and collaborators bringing heat sources to as many people as we can find but we are running out of money and it is unbearably cold. Your neighbors need your help.

Understanding challenges/conditions, I don't think justification of what it would cost to provide function/quality should factor
It costs what it costs to live in the snow. Period.

Sorry not sorry to be that girl:
Especially not when MPD has an ever-increasing budget they mismanage AND blow by $20M
I strongly support sidewalks and walkability, yet I'm extremely skeptical of municipal sidewalk clearing proposals in the Twin Cities. I don't think it's possible for them to deliver the speed and quality necessary, let alone to justify the cost.
