All I want to hear from anyone over 50 for the rest of their life is “I’m so sorry.”

America is one of those countries where if you host a global sporting event, inclusive messages have to be censored to so as not to anger the central government. In this case the message is “racism is bad” www.nytimes.com/athletic/643...

There’s something extra disturbing about these stories because it’s never that the other students are upset or express outrage. The other kids know and agree and cheer, and then it’s the responsible adults that take it upon themselves to say “you promised not to bring up the murdered children”
“As a commitment to truth and reconciliation, I must acknowledge colonial and genocidal atrocities today, including the massacre of more than 17,000 Palestinian children in Gaza.”

That’s what an Ottawa high school Valedictorian said to cheers.

She was told not to come to school the next day.

The head of the department of homeland security announced that she planned to use military force to take over a democratically elected government in the state of California and we are arguing about whether a California Senator properly identified himself at the door.

And I gotta admit, the Netflix doc DOES contain new information.

You hear "Stockon was a narcissist" And you're like, I mean sure, obviously, he'd have to be. but actually having the man ON TAPE firing someone who was like "Hey this is unsafe, I can't sign off on it" is a whole different thing.
The Titan story (and the Theranos story) need to be a repeat in STEM schools. They are the 21st century version of Tacoma Narrows Bridge Collapse cautionary tale that was on permanent repeat when I was in engineering school.

A massive story in Canada is that damn near the entire country is turning on national God Wayne Gretzky because he refuses to stand up for Canadian sovereignty due to his desire to keep getting invites to Mar A Lago. An entire country choosing dignity over star-f*cking. We could take a lesson.

Reagan is a prime example of why saying "it's only 4/8 years" is bullshit. Reagan has been f*cking the country for over 40 years & from beyond the grave.
once again I have to invoke the specter of Ronald Wilson Reagan, who is in Hell now. under Reagan, the term "government spending" was effectively demonized. fuck you, Reaganite ghouls! spending money, on its people and their needs, is the function of government! public works are good! say so!

In most countries, this would be seen for what it is: a coup.
🚨 BREAKING: This is beyond outrageous. Elon Musk, his cranky mother Maye, and one of his young kids were chauffeured in Air Force One and Marine One—straight to the White House, where they’re apparently staying.

WTF is going on? It goes without saying, this is not normal. 🙄

NO KINGS
NO SLAVES
NO NAZIS

gets you the three good American wars, in chronological order no less. sounds insane to argue against any of them and yet it is very clear which side you're on
I see the phrase "competitive authoritarianism" thrown around a lot on here and while that may be descriptive of the moment we're in I cannot stress enough that you should never say that phrase to a normal voter and instead just say Trump's trying to be king.

The clearest sign of intellectual chemistry isn’t agreeing with someone. It’s enjoying your disagreements with them.

Harmony is not the combination of identical sounds. It’s the pleasing arrangement of different tones, voices, or instruments.

Creative tension makes beautiful music.

One of the worst things about researching this last season of LEVERAGE:REDEMPTION was wallowing in the wave, absolute tidal shift in the US not just normalizing but valorizing child labor. I know it's a bit off topic, but once you see it, you see it EVERYWHERE, dragged into every argument.
Congressman Rich McCormick says of potential cuts to free school lunches for children: "Hey, I worked my way through high school...since before I was even 13 years old, I was picking berries in the field before we had child labor laws"

A reminder that all writing advice come with the caveat that YMMV. Learning to write is really hacking your brain into delivering the most words reliably in the shortest amount of time with the highest amount of quality. And since each of our brains works differently, not all advice will fit you.
