guys minneapolis is a living hell today. they've tear-gassed so many people, tear-gassed a park, beaten people up in front of me. greg bovino is rolling around to gas stations and posing in front of them, trying to cause a riot.

Woof
Tonight, I missed a virtual forum with Indivisible Edgewater.

I want to apologize and explain my absence, as well as reaffirm my commitment to being accessible to any and all 9th District residents.

Once again, I’m very sorry for this and we are trying to reschedule for another time.

TEN FUCKING YEARS of "reasonable concerns" and "the science isn't settled" and allowing conservatives to pretend that they're women's rights activists because they speak out against icky trannies and what do we have?

Radicalized billionaires working hand-in-hand with fascists to torpedo society.

The window of what was considered career-ending has shifted so far since 2016 it’s beyond shocking. And the press has played a huge role in it with their “he’s just a different guy” schtick 🤮
It’s notable that the president can go on TV and be a total gutter racist, and somehow this isn’t news in the slightest. Says a lot about the sickness of American society right now.
Trump: "They're paid agitators and insurrectionists. Nobody talks about the fact that $19 billion at a minimum is missing in Minnesota, given to a large degree by Somalians. They've taken it. Somalians. A lot of very low IQ people."

this is the best social media rule I’ve ever heard
There should be a rule that if you are a Known Sports Poster you can say things like “holy fucking shit” with zero context but if you are primarily a Known Politics Poster that gets you like a two day ban

Avengers V3 is interesting because it feels like the end for an entire era of comics. It’s easy to forget that while it was happening books like The Authority were laying down the template for the industry in the 2000s. These 2 pages were published the same month but they feel a solid decade apart

Minneapolis activists, I’m sorry, but you cannot call for a general strike on a Friday during a period where federal occupation is crushing local businesses and then be upset when all the bars and restaurants ignore the strike

I know it is shocking to say, but non majority-white countries have as many rabidly bigoted assholes living in them as we do.
Many of them come to this country.
i know desi americans families like this! it's extremely common to find socially conservative immigrants who weren't burned by Trump I that didn't realize Trump II was a national nightmare
There are a lot of people like this in first and second generation communities and BlueSky is often very uncomfortable acknowledging this.

you know how conservatives only think bad things are real when it happens to them (megyn kelly suddenly discovering maternity leave when she had kids, etc)?

they’re now triggering that but for cops
Brooklyn Park police chief Mark Bruley: "We're hearing people being stopped with no cause & being demanded to show paperwork to determine if they're here legally. We started hearing from our police officers the same complaints. Every one of these individuals is a person of color... it has to stop"

ime most Americans I talk to have an interesting sense of justice that citizenship in the US must be earned "the right way" but are very ignorant of how infuriating the official immigration process is (& it's gotten worse) & aren't interested in learning info that conflicts w this sense of justice.

The destruction of the Kinkos brand is one of the dumbest naming decisions of the Bush years.
'Copy shop' being so phonologically similar to 'coffee shop' just shows that Kinko's is the 'dark twin' of Starbucks. Replicating that which already exists is ultimately the great sin of post-industrial society, whether it's mediocre coffee or literal photocopies.
