Someone really needs to write something about the CNBC class ragebait industrial complex because they've been doing it for years and unlike Politico and the like no one has really cottoned on to it
Fascinating thing about this story is that you could easily write a better and IMO more accurate one about a woman who has fallen in love with someone 17 years older, and has concluded 'I don't want to run the risk of not getting to enjoy my time with you' and has lived frugally to achieve that.

Having spent two years on Medicaid in part time* work I wonder what percentage of the part time workers are working 39 hours a week because their workplace doesn’t want to give the benefits that come with full time.

Hot take: This is deliberately designed engagement bate and not AI. AI generated maps are way weirder meanwhile this one looks like someone took a real map and just erased a few small borders and split up Croatia before slapping on a few obviously inaccurate labels and calling it a day.

I feel like he's mostly just famous for dunking on random bigots which isn't as hard as people think. And that's not even getting into his softball interviews with people he agrees with which are mostly harmless but occasionally are him uncritically hauling David Petraeus to let them grandstand.
I guess the thing about Chotiner to me is that I think he’s pretty good, but the gap between that and his legend as told in places like this is really wide.

I'm from a small town that was literally featured on the front page of the New York Times in 1988 as an archetypical dying farm town. Certain things the described are true- people fix their cars because it's the middle of nowhere, but it misses the rural elitism that dominates in these places
