For those who wonder what a modern postal service could look like, one example is in France, where letter carriers provide check-ins on the elderly for very affordable rates, while completing their routes.

I encourage everyone to read the whole thing

It would be good news. But Canada hasn't. Canada announced a _recognition framework_, under which it is impossible for a Palestinian government to ever be recognized.

Palestine recognition under the framework is dependent on the Palestinian Authority holding elections. Israel does not allow them.

i mean, to obnoxiously answer a rhetorical question, it's because they cannot be vulnerable. their whole thing is to make it so they never have to be reliant on, or relied upon by, anyone else. because interacting with others is where we find humanity, and ourselves, and our flaws, and mortality.
Literally the entire point of a tattoo is the human element and interaction.
Working with your tattoo artist, personalizing your designs, its all so intimate and rightly so. Thats what its all about!
Why do techbros try to ruin EVERYTHING?

it's really weird as someone with chronic conditions that increase covid vulnerability to watch a bunch of people go "the couple months where people gave a shit about you and the following year of pretending they did was so traumatizing for everyone that you should just die next time"
I've never seen such a disconnect between Dem elected/staff/consultants and actual Dem voters.

The latter understand what's going on.

The former are awash in right-wing brainrot, hence @schatz.bsky.social blaming COVID mitigation and BLM marches for the GOP's wanton destruction of public health.

I'll say it plainly: If you're falling for transphobic rhetoric, you're falling for fascism. It's honestly that simple. Fascists are using transphobia as a weapon, and anyone singing along is straight-up helping them out. If you haven't sorted out your transphobia yet, let this be the reason you do.

Yes, of course. It’s people who advocated using all the available tools to reduce the spread of a deadly and disabling virus that boosted the eugenics movement and not the folks normalizing the mass death of vulnerable folks by rushing back to normal and ostracizing them from society. Got it.
Hey congrats to everyone who took the soft anti-vaccine stance of “mRNA vaccines aren’t 100% effective and aren’t useful against future variants so the mRNA vaccines aren’t good, we need to mask forever”, your stance has been noted by RFK Jr. to kill mRNA technology in America.
"The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) today announced the beginning of a coordinated wind-down of its mRNA vaccine development activities...."

I can't stop thinking about how Canada issued its first big warning to Israel in May 2024, when it said invading Rafah would cross a red line. And then Israel destroyed Rafah, made it the hub of its "murder through aid" operation, and is now planning a concentration camp there.

This is your weekly reminder that AI does not understand its output, does not "search" for answers, and, because it produces content based on probabilities, generates incorrect info. Despite what the tech bros say, the human brain is a wonderful thing. Use it. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/05/t...
A.I. Hallucinations Are Getting Worse, Even as New Systems Become More Powerful
A new wave of “reasoning” systems from companies like OpenAI is producing incorrect information more often. Even the companies don’t know why.

That any person finds utility in an AI system that normalizes their speech and presents them as "respectable" for the purposes of gaining access to resources and society is not praise for AI, but a condemnation of society.

I mean, if your platform is to avoid making hard decisions on behalf of the people, and to avoid being fully informed of the challenges facing the country, and to avoid any venue in which you might face an unfriendly question, are you sure politics is right for you?

I forgot the Rhino party existed. Figures, as this kind of trolling might’ve seemed relevant 20 years ago but we’re steeped in it now, so it just feels selfish and so tiring. Unsurprisingly, lots of the replies in support are very ignorant and dismissive of disability and accessibility.
As advanced polls open, all I can think about when it comes to this stunt is an elderly person or maybe someone who isn't super informed being really confused and overwhelmed by this ballot.

Your advocacy shouldn't come at the expense of the accessibility of our elections. I think this sucks tbh
Ballot design released. This is quite the specimen! 👀

The amount of AI garbage coming across my desk from supposedly very smart people is depressing. I find it impossible to work with because there’s no intent, no thread to pull on, nothing to respond to. Just a void.

This whole thread🧵
Giving into eugenics is (among other things) SO embarrassing. As far as accommodations go, masks are very easy.
People who don’t include disability liberation in their understanding of social justice will never make sense to me.

Like what do you MEAN you oppose sexism, racism, and classism, but the minute the lived reality of that oppression starts showing up physically, all your energy just evaporates?

You need a politic grounded in disability justice if you want to effectively address ANY of the issues people left of center care about (e.g., racism, transphobia, climate change, genocide, pandemics, capitalism).

They ALL cause disability.

Listen to disabled people.
Prioritize accessibility.
