HMICFRS found that Surrey Police had a severe vetting backlog too with thousands of employees working with the wrong vetting. Uplift caused a panic to recruit and huge churn of officers and staff due to potential £ penalties.
The MPS has published a review of historic vetting practices, which identifies that standards were cut in order to achieve a recruitment surge associated with the Police Uplift Programme (linked to ££), and to tackle disproportionality in vetting refusals news.met.police.uk/news/met-con...

Trump is probably focused on the money he wrongly thinks he'll make from Venezuelan oil. But he's not a details guy and nobody has thought through the details. Essentially, the US has taken over Venezuela by mistake. Stranger things have happened, but not many.

The 1980s Nostalgia of Trump's Foreign Policy is probably going to end up, like Stranger Things, as a horror show.

Keir Starmer should condemn Trump’s illegal action in Venezuela.

Maduro is a brutal and illegitimate dictator, but unlawful attacks like this make us all less safe.

Trump is giving a green light to the likes of Putin and Xi to attack other countries with impunity.

What a victory! Today MPs narrowly backed our bill to cut the Brexit red tape and end this economic nightmare.

The PM must listen to Parliament and the public, drop his self-imposed red lines and go for growth with a new customs union.

Thank you to everyone who credited the original UK outrage calendar. As ever, the calendar is kept under review. For example, both September's events are in jeopardy after a poor showing for the past couple of years, while confected Proms rage also seems to have subsided for now.

💙 Happy birthday to the European flag!

Adopted 70 years ago by the Council of Europe, it became the #EU emblem in 1985.

12 stars. Blue sky. A circle of unity. A symbol for the whole of Europe and shared values.

Nigel Farage won't apologise for his history of racism because "if he apologised, he would be turning to his own support base and saying, ‘You’re all guilty too,'" a Reform source tells the Times.

So essentially he was a racist and he believes his supporters are racists too
