Democrats half-assedly ran on "democracy" in 2024 and failed so now everyone will only run on "prices are too high" and every president will get tossed out after one term for not getting that done
US politicians just seem to bedrock believe that americans care about absolutely nothing except their own selfish interests, and that appealing to their sense of decency ever in any way is a losing proposition and you should never do it.

I have not. Again, I highly discourage people from doing this. Try to imagine a scenario where pulling that trigger does not result in the destruction of many of your neighbors' lives: observers, residents, bystanders. You can't. As good as you might feel what comes after will be 100 times worse
@whstancil.bsky.social — I just saw a video of a ‘regular’ guy in St. Paul walking around his neighborhood with a rifle 😬 Are you seeing a trend of residents escalating violence?

[I am hoping it was an air gun & not a real rifle, but still — not good 🥴 ]

it is pretty obvious that what Hanania means by "grace" is "I receive no social opprobrium or consequences for being a head-measuring racist", and I don't really think that deal is favourable for those of us who are not head-measuring racists

Leaking this in bad faith after the fact proves that they were correct not to pick him.
What a pathetic whiner. This is not an "all Jews have dual loyalty" bias, it's a "this specific dude was so into Israel that he implied he was in the IDF when he wasn't."

The civility police lose their minds when you accurately describe a racist person as a “racist” but this is nothing. Imagine if a Democrat talked about red states like this.

The idea that Democrats can only approach impeachment when they have congressional majorities is very stupid. Impeaching Trump should be their main argument.

The incredibly lukewarm Democratic response on Greenland is being noticed in Europe, incidentally.

Chuck Schumer not finding a stronger word than “quixotic” for Trump’s plan to seize Greenland has been name checked to me more than once.
But Americans who want to save the alliance with Europe must have no illusions about how bad a condition this transatlantic partnership is in.

Impeachment is for literally whatever you want it to be. Trump could be impeached for saying “fuck.”
Someone asked me if Trump can be impeached for taking away health care or not supporting gun control.

The answer is yes. Of course!

I'm glad Douthat admits the public is turning against Trump's ICE raids, but he undersells this. The mass deportations aren't just unpopular because ICE agents are terrorizing and killing people. The core underlying goal is itself unpopular, as I try to argue here:

Not the sort of letter committed to paper by a well man. "Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace"
