Once a week there's discourse about the stupid voters who didn't understand in 2024 that democracy was at risk. Well what about members of congress who don't seem to understand that even today? Are they acting like we're in a crisis?
If congressional Democrats were capable of understanding their role as an opposition beyond the narrow confines of their legislative roles, they could realize that you can actually leverage public opinion to demand an end to ICE operations without actually needing to pass a bill

I'm sure people will make me regret this but we dont need to let american institutions like ICE off the hook for their behavior. They didnt need to learn from Israel (or any other country) to act the way theyre acting. Im not saying ignore the connections but lets just pump the brakes a little

A reminder that ICE hasn’t slowed down in Minneapolis at all.
Outside of Minnesota, it might feel like everything has changed since Alex Pretti’s murder. But ICE hasn’t actually lost any power and they’re continuing to terrorize our communities.

just my gut read after watching a lot of senate business over the years — i don’t think the senate democratic caucus trusts voters *at all* after the re-election of trump, and that’s why the caucus isn’t budging on leadership. easier for senators to blame us instead of their storied institution

If any Democrat in the Senate votes to fund ICE, they are voting for the summary execution of American citizens. It’s really that simple.
Reminder: DHS legislation that funds ICE at current levels without policy restrictions is in the Senate and needs 60 votes to pass. Deadline is next Friday.
