lol I fucking knew that little shit wasn't to be trusted.

Avoid the new Vine like a plague, they just want a pure dataset to scrape.

I tried debate team briefly in high school. This was part of why I didn't stick with it. I acknowledge one can better refute a viewpoint when one understands it, but to have one's chance of winning depend on one's ability to argue for a viewpoint with which one doesn't believe just felt...wrong.
I was a debate kid and what I learned is that the best people at arguing do not believe or care about what they’re saying.
People love to talk about how awful theater kids are, and they’re not wrong, but let’s be real, debate kids have made this country a lot worse

bro what--
what are we doing here, exactly, how can you--anyone be okay with this?

*Every* day is STFU Friday.
Seriously - if any of your social media companies informs you that stuff from your accounts has been turned over in compliance with a federal grand jury subpoena, SHUT THE FUCK UP IMMEDIATELY and stay shut up until you consult an attorney. Who will also tell you to stfu, but professionally.

I’ve long wanted to write a piece called,“Against STEM.” Liberal arts education includes science, tech, engineering, math. STEM has become a code for excising the humanities and arts, which we need more than ever in algorithmic society.

Listening to the audiobook of Night Watch (Discworld). Dr. "Mossy" Lawn is my absolute favorite supporting character.

steam is apparently allowing "this game had AI in it that it didn't disclose" as a valid return statement, so if you or anyone you know actually paid $70 for slop, get that money back

There's no way they're not monitoring the effects of one or more strokes.
Biden has a sub-par debate performance and the planet freaks out. Trump doesn't know what part of his body the doctors looked at and nobody cares.
Love 2 go to the doctor and not know what body part they’re analyzing

Here at #BaltimoreSchoolfortheArts waiting for curtains up for "The Prom."
Glad I just checked and saw my tickets for tonight are for 6PM, not 8PM. That could have been an annoying "oops."

Having shipped numerous MMOs over the course of the years, let me tell you that having and using the ‘fascistic’ power of moderation is crucial unless you want to have a 4chan style den of nazis and child porn instead of a viable business.
It's not linguistic loopholes. It's that power is inherently fascistic. It's impossible to be an admin of anything from a major social media platform to a tiny MUD and not turn into a enormous butt-hurt wimp. It's impossible to have the power to delete without using it.

Heartbreaking (especially for me) but true.
"What if one of YOUR favorite politicians/celebrities/etc is on the list?" Did you all not notice how quickly we dropped Neil Gaiman when we found out about the things he did? Do you know how beloved that guy used to be and how loathed he is now? I think that right there should answer your question.

Baltimore, I can't take credit for this, but this is a good acronym for the information you want to add if you want reports of ICE agents to be actionable or usable instead of unintentionally spreading panic:

Size
Activity
Location
Uniforms
Time
Equipment

I'm two days behind on sharing this, but here's a bright spot amongst the doomscrolling: new tree!

The tree in front of our house had to be removed a few years ago lest it die and fall over. A new one was finally planted on the 11th.

I'm really looking forward to watching this grow over the years.

Last night I wondered if the "evergreen" post implies the existence of a "nevergreen" post, a take that is useless from the moment it's published. Then I remembered that Bret Stephens, Ross Douthat, and David Brooks are all highly paid commentators.

"[Talking about how insulting Nazis is fine] And if I've upset you, fuck you! You're a Nazi!" - Craig Ferguson
My last comic about a nazi getting attacking by a zombie made some folks mad. And that's great, because nazis don't deserve to be happy

If any other edu folks can f/u: if this is the annual review then it should be on the agenda and should have slides and should be linked to the yearly reporting process (see www.baltimorecityschools.org/page/annual-...)

Schl closures/mods are BIG deal and the community deserves call AND info!
Great. But where on the formal agenda for 11/12 does it say so? The agenda on Board Docs does not include this item. Are you planning to amend the agenda to comply with the Open Meetings Act to reflect the addition of this item?
There will be an Annual Review at the Special Board Meeting on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
