Look, if I say "this is ableist," I'm not calling you an ableist piece of shit who hates disabled people. I'm saying 'this thing you are doing right here? That's an ableist thing. Maybe consider not doing that thing."

I would suggest going further.

Complete it with the Eleven-Twelve song from Sesame Street.

6-7...eight NINE ten...elevenTwelve.

Give them the earworm we still bear almost 50 years later. They brought it upon themselves.
it is your DUTY as a parent to be basic and cringe. if your child says "6-7" and you do not say, loud enough for their friends to hear, "8-9?", causing profound silence and intense discomfort, you are neglecting your responsibilities. being cool is for kids. your days of being laughed WITH are over

FACT: Movies are lying to you – beating up an inanimate object is not an effective way to deal with anger. Usually it just makes you angrier.

COROLLARY: Beating the shit out of an inanimate object is, however, often a very effective way to deal with *anxiety*.

CONCLUSION: Anxiety is punchable.

Tip for people wanting some good environmental/background music for #ttrpg sessions: look into soundtracks from not great movies. They're often way better than you expect, thematic, and won't make people think of any well known property.

Reposting this for reasons unrelated to current events.

Honest.
But.... is this perhaps a good time to remind a certain nation to our south that a good chunk of the war crimes rules were written because we lose our shit when people attack us?
Saw a vid about "Why do Canadian go Ballistic during War?" Mostly stereotypes and notes on some of the horrible things our troops did in WWI and II."

Not once did the, presumably USian, narrator clue in that we're "polite," not nice and our country was founded on repressed anger and alcoholism.

"We have a family history of Alcoholism"

No, we have a family history of interoceptive issues, and dismissal by doctors, leading to a lot of unrecognized pain. Plus due to genetics, opioids don't work right and/or make us sick, and most otc painkillers are...variable in response.

This week I’ll get the paperwork for my new job + go to immigration to change my visa status.

This means I will not see a paycheck until I get my new visa, and if it takes a month to process? I won’t be paid… until March

Please help if you can!

You ever think about how the Roman Senate kept meeting centuries into the reigns of emperors. Hanging out, shooting the shit, giving speeches, and play-acting that their positions of privilege remained positions of power.

so after being bedridden for 16months due to a hernia, I've finally got my surgery!
now I'm bedridden for recovery, fun!

I'm still about 1400$ away from paying my electricity bill, so if you've got a couple dollars, it'd help me get through this last stretch. Thanks so much!

I'm in a very fortunate position right now, but it's already hard as hell and I've taken a real hit to my mental health becaise of it.

Absolutely, we are "better". But that is not saying much. And we could get worse so easily.
I personally know multiple Canadians who have gone broke and/or chosen Assisted Suicide because of medical costs.

I know even more online.

Please, please, stop spreading these lies. Yes, we're better than the US, but that's literally the lowest bar.

concept of an "accountability sink" comes to mind
Parker's piece nails why this matters. "Tech companies... would rather not answer for their products’ failures. Every headline that says “Grok apologizes” or “Grok admits” or “Grok says” creates a world where the chatbot takes the fall while Musk and his executives face no scrutiny whatsoever."

I don't recall off hand who made the point about AI being, more than anything else, a machine for displacing responsibility. That increasingly looks like its most reliable feature
This is a thread of major media outlets falsely anthropomorphising the "Grok" chatbot program and in doing so, actively and directly removing responsibility and accountability from individual people working at X who created a child pornography generator (Elon Musk, Nikita Bier etc)

Serious thing for folks to consider is, particularly for marginalized people, Grudges Are Self-Defense. What you may be interpreting as pettiness is probably closer aligned to "You have demonstrated you're not to be trusted." And knowing who REALLY has your back is more important that ever.
I feel in my bones that the wave has started to crash back in and Certain People/Companies who thought they were safe to abandon everyone they’d been pretending to care about will suddenly realize that those people have money/power and I, for one, will be holding a grudge until the end of time 💜
