Hi friends. I'm finally home from the hospital. I developed respiratory acidosis from acute-on-chronic respiratory failure related to aspiration pneumonia & too much sedation from meds. I need to start using mechanical ventilation (supplemental O2 isn't enough anymore). But I'm home & otherwise ok.💖

Was hoping to go home today, then my blood gas levels started trending in a weird direction and my back incision leaked everywhere multiple times and also I may or may not have a cerebral spinal fluid leak??? so I'm being held another night till we figure shit out.

Been a really rough day. ICU team will be monitoring me for 24 hrs to see if I have any more issues after my usual Apixaban anticoagulant. I have a new buildup of fluid around basically my whole spine and partially collapsed parts of both lungs but no new emboli, hemorrhage or brain abnormalities.

Good news!! After two post surgical blood transfusions, my hemoglobin is back up to a mostly normal range even as I continue with my anticoagulant treatment!!

The goal has been met! Thank you to everyone who made this happen, whether by circulating, chipping in or sharing words of support.💕 I go in for surgery tomorrow at 6am & it's a huge relief to not have to immediately worry about out of pocket medical expenses when I wake up. Mutual aid saves lives.

I temporarily had to switch from Apixaban to the anticoagulant injectable and I successfully gave myself my own injection despite my paralyzed right hand!! Please clap.
