We cannot talk about the suffering disabled people face without also talking about the ways the state creates and upholds the conditions of suffering.

I'm just asking people not to trust the people who got everyone into this mess to get us out. Stop listening to these people.

Also transportation costs, many people have to travel to the big cities to get specialist treatment. Or if your kid is in Children's Hospital Vancouver but you have to work in Prince George.
Or if you need say, an air ambulance out of your province you pay full price.
Propaganda you agree with is STILL propaganda.

People in Canada DO go bankrupt from medical bills and illness related work loss, they just are more often tied to medication costs than hospital visits or procedure costs

The thing about depending on government services to live is that the people working in those departments don't actually have to do their job when you call in about issues. They can just say anything at all to you and hang up, and your life goes down the toilet. It's truly wild

yes, AI is being used to make CSAM and revenge porn and it’s telling people to kill themselves & their loved ones and it’s destroying the environment and it’s infecting every creative field but hey, you gotta admit, it sure helps me make my grocery list

This is exactly how my cousin justified her use of it and accepting a death of a thousand cuts even when those cuts are slow and spread out drives me crazy

“Well its just for this little thing” soon blossoms into “well its just for—“ for everything
Slowly realizing even my political friends who say they hate AI are using it to speed up tasks like email writing, formatting grant applications etc

Requiring masks for only certain areas of the hospital is as useful as the smoking sections we used to have on planes and in restaurants.

The smoke didn't stay in its section and neither will airborne viruses.

Ontario has the fewest hospital beds per person of any province in Canada.

Ontario funds its hospitals at the lowest rate per person of all the provinces.

We deserve better.

My sincere year-end thought isn’t an original one, but its importance has been underscored to me repeatedly over the last 12 months: be free with telling the people you love that you love them, casually, and at every chance. Great love, small love, every type of love.

my doubts about the efficacy of individual therapy as an intervention on abusive people are validated over and over. this woman has barely been in therapy for a year and she’s so excited to take the new tools she’s been given out for a spin to see how they can be used as mechanisms of coercion.

Hey, if you’re feeling down during the holidays, you’re not alone. If you are alienated and hurting, you still belong. You still matter. It is worth being gentle with yourself.

Pushed myself way too hard the last couple days and my body is fighting back hard with increased pain, extra shitty O2 sats and carbon dioxide buildup, but Nurse River is keeping me company and making sure I rest with breathing support today.

…If you think this is a good thing, a right thing, a "kind" thing, then we have such a fundamental mismatch of values that all questions of technology need to be put on Long Pause while you & i figure out what we mean by "good," "right," & "kind." You can't technofix your way out of values problems
The comments on this are all about how sweet it is and I feel insane. Using AI to make fake memories of your grandma with dementia and telling her they happened and then filming her reaction

Merry Christmas & happy holidays.

Sending lots of love to everyone who struggles with this time of year. Everyone navigating grief, loss, isolation, pressure & poverty.

Lots of love to my fellow trans, queer & disabled friends. My covid conscious friends. I wish us all safety & warmth.
