The vaccine autism thing is bullshit but even if you believed it, it seems incredibly fucked up to then believe that raising child death rates is some sort of worthwhile trade-off to reduce autism rates

I’m a review-heavy blogger whose main goal is to share excellent SFF, especially underappreciated work. I have a particular focus on short fiction, trying my best to capture whatever appeal there is in each work (even work I don’t love), whether it’s The Themes or the storytelling or something else.

This, so much! I’ve met a lot of people who spend years writing and rewriting this one book they had an idea for instead of just … letting it go and writing the next thing.
In my opinion this is the first hurdle on the way to becoming a professional writer, and it’s one that many stumble on.

As an instructor or mentor there's nothing more exciting to me than seeing a student let go of that first novel and move on to other projects. That hill is often the hardest to get someone past.
I got dumb lucky that my first novel died in a hard drive failure. At the time, devastated. But lucky.
