The college president has to approve each syllabus and there is a HOTLINE for students to report course content.
The new rules require presidential approval for courses that "advocate" race or gender ideology and ban material outside approved syllabi. Students can use a hotline to report course content. bit.ly/3XxszrC

Can we just give the LLMs their own higher education system? let them teach each other, produce and review their own research and scholarship, grant each other tenure, let them form their own clubs and host their own frat socials, and leave us alone?
No surprise: “AI peer reviewers recommend the acceptance of unsound papers created entirely by AI more than 80% of the time, a new study has found.”

Surprise: the article still tries to spin it positive for “human-AI collaboration.”

People, please draw the correct conclusion.
AI peer reviewers are fine with AI-fabricated papers
Study finds artificial intelligence reviewers accept AI-generated scientific studies 4 out of 5 times

There is no 'congrats' loud or enthusiastic enough for the Penn State grad students, who didn't just win their union today, but did it by an utterly absurd 90 point margin.

I'm so proud and happy for them!!!!!

you could fact check this — there aren’t 30 million illegal immigrants and there is no evidence that the presence of an immigrant in say houston has any impact on housing in madison, wisconsin — or you could note straightforwardly that this is just nazi rhetoric
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

An investigation by The Ferret found that Israeli Defence Force propaganda videos reused 3D models from Scotland’s Irvine Maritime Museum, turning a boat-building workshop into scenes of Hamas tunnels and Iranian bunkers.

An interesting tidbit in the joint status report filed in the Broadview ICE facility case today:

ICE says video from inside the facility "between October 19, 2025, and October 31, 2025, has been irretrievably destroyed" and can't be produced in discovery.

so basically what happened was:

ICE / CBP abducted ~1800 people from across the chicago area during june to oct, & did most of it without warrants. of those ~1800 people, only ~750 are still in the us & ~135 aren't eligible for release.

the injustice of everything these people will never get back.

Hey so “underage girls” are…children. The word you’re looking for is children. They’re not like, women-in-waiting or women-lite or whatever. They’re children. I think some of you are very uncomfortable with what that means for you but it is still true.

This archived Twitter thread from Feb 2020 feels especially relevant.

Women move through the world knowing that you can name a field of endeavor—any field of endeavor—and a few of the Great Men in it, & you'll find rapists. And that we are required to make some kind of peace with that knowledge.
A famous actor of remarkable skill died at a very ripe old age today. Beyond his art, he's known for taking a stand that helped end the terror of the McCarthy years, & for raping a 16 yo girl, events that happened just a few yrs apart. I'm purposely not using his name because

There is no fair and balanced moderation on Bluesky. One of the justifications Link was given included text that he never actually wrote. The excuses wore thin so they started inventing them.
False attribution. If a person is suspended it is because of their identity? Could it not be because of their content? I wrote about it here aaron.leaflet.pub/3m52nqqmk322v

This is what I try to always tell people: food banks can do way more with your money than you can, due to bulk buying deals. And they can do way, way more with your money than with the canned goods you didn’t want to eat
spoke with the executive director of my local food bank today and got this really incredible line: "if you donate 1 can of green beans, we can give away 1 can of green beans. but if you donate a dollar, we can give away 6 cans of green beans"
