It happened coincidentally, but I've assigned two movies in two of my courses this week:

Holy Silence (on Pius XII and the Holocaust) in my Jewish-Christian relations course

Jesus Christ Superstar (no description necessary) in my intro to Bible course.

One of the most memorable moments of my teaching career was having the opportunity to teach a group of students here.
For #AncientSiteSunday the #Hellenistic theatre at Pergamon, #Türkiye, built in the 3rd century BC, alterations were made in the #Roman period. It's one of the steepest known ancient theatres. The capacity was about 10,000 spectators.

Archaeologists have uncovered a Roman merchant vessel shipwreck from around ca. 320 CE near Mallorca. It was carrying olive oil, wine, and garum, “two leather shoes, a carpenter’s drill likely used for onboard repairs, and an oil lamp … Some amphorae, however, bear early Christian monograms.”
