It's time for us to get some oLTN's in NYC, Jersey City would look good with one of these too. It's a magic pill - removes cut through traffic to create safe and quiet streets. It's a hard slog to get those first few created, but in just 10 years London built 100+ LTN's with no signs of stopping!

My first takeaway from the weekend ICE raids is we need totalitarian enforcement on any vehicle with no license plates. Would solve a ton of problems if there was a modicum of enforcement. No/obstructed plate = a criminal, ironclad rule.

Intrigued by London's policy of "lane rental" that is now being extended citywide -- charging utility co's when they obstruct lanes esp at busy times, creating an incentive to work quickly or during off-hours (vs NYC's laissez faire re utilities constantly digging up streets)
"TfL is working with the London boroughs to expand our lane rental scheme and its associated benefits onto borough roads. As of January 2026, four boroughs have already received approval for schemes by the Department for Transport. These are Camden, Enfield, Lambeth and Merton"

Jersey City has fallen so far behind. Our bike lanes have been untouched since the snow began on Saturday. We have the equipment so I'm not sure what's going on.
