Analysis finds that “comparing a single day before the speed camera implementation with one day after, average speeds came down at every single one of those 15 corridors last month. It also found that the share of vehicles speeding by more than 10 miles an hour over the limit fell by a whopping 78%“
S.F. speed cameras are generating mountains of tickets and fines. Here are the totals so far
August was the first month that San Francisco’s automated speed cameras generated citations with a fine. One camera accounted for a quarter of all the tickets, according to data.

You know what they’re going to store in those warehouses?

People
In the last month ICE has bought warehouses in:

- Hagerstown, MD: $102 million
- Surprise, AZ: $70 million
- Hamburg, PA: $87 million
- Tremont, PA: $120 million
- San Antonio, TX: $82 million
- El Paso, TX: $123 million
- Social Circle, GA: price unknown

This is unprecedented.

read my mind.
NYC residents who own cars make 2x those who don’t. @mayor.nyc.gov doesn’t need to tax the rich to close the looming $12.6 billion budget gap, he just needs to make them pay market rate for parking.

This technology already exists and is widely used. It doesn't involve 'government surveillance' and would not allow ICE or any other government agency to stop individual cars.

Just say you think thousands of kids dying every year is worth it so you can speed!

Speed Limiters Now Mandatory in All New EU Cars
Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA) isn't an ironclad speeding prevention system, but could be just annoying enough to spark a backlash.

People keep dying on our roads here in New Jersey. Leadership in the legislature doesn’t care and is self serving.
Three people died on New Jersey roads over the weekend.
This year, 46 people have died on NJ roads, not one of them hit by an "e-Bike" or even an electric motorcycle.
Every single one died either in or being struck by a car.
Priorities?

Something to keep in mind the next time the city tries to repurpose parking and drivers complain that every last car is necessary at all times. The storm was two weeks ago.

It's time for us to get some oLTN's in NYC, Jersey City would look good with one of these too. It's a magic pill - removes cut through traffic to create safe and quiet streets. It's a hard slog to get those first few created, but in just 10 years London built 100+ LTN's with no signs of stopping!

My first takeaway from the weekend ICE raids is we need totalitarian enforcement on any vehicle with no license plates. Would solve a ton of problems if there was a modicum of enforcement. No/obstructed plate = a criminal, ironclad rule.

Why did three buses and several delivery trucks get stuck trying to turn at Jersey & Columbus this morning?

Lack of illegal parking enforcement is not only making our crosswalks dangerous, but also slowing down our transportation system. /

We can have this too. London started this about ten years ago, and now has 100+ LTN's. A city transformation. London is the same population as NYC. This is doable, all over the US.

Anne Hidalgo's positive impact on Parisian public space has been huge.

But the ultimate significance of her leadership on mobility justice is global: demonstrating what is possible really highlights the commitment of other mayors to convenience for car owners at the expense of everyone else.
“The transformation is astonishing. [Paris] has quietly—& quickly—become one of the most bike-friendly cities in the world. What started as a series of emergency ‘coronapistes’ or pop-up bike lanes, built during the pandemic has evolved into a permanent bike network spanning hundreds of kilometres.”
