NYC has plenty of great candidates for this... Times Square, for example, where the sidewalks are already way past their capacity.

Personal vehicles dominate city traffic, so to lower VMT, we need a lot more strategies like congestion pricing to get New Yorkers to stop driving so much. Low traffic neighborhoods and bus rapid transit aren't just nice-to-haves, they're how we win.

Driving in NYC is increasing every year, but our streets CANNOT get any wider.
📈 Between 2004 and 2023, Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) jumped at least 16%.
This is causing: more gridlock 🚙, air & noise pollution 💨, more fatalities & serious injuries 🏥…

📢 Bronx youth rallied against the Cross Bronx Expressway widening, demanding cleaner air & a healthier future.
NYC's next generations deserve healthier communities & pollution-free air instead of more highways. Let's listen to their vision for a better Bronx.

Thank you @governor.ny.gov & NYS DOT for pausing the Hudson Valley Highway expansion & for scrapping plans to build a traffic diversion structure along the Cross Bronx Expressway! Now, instead of widening the Cross Bronx, we need more investment in public transit & public space.
