That angle is interesting enough, but what really caught my eye here is they might finally start on One45 (the infamous project in Harlem that was faux replaced with a truck stop) soon.

This is very 2010s tech trauma and spiteful, but I don't mind that #$TEAM is in decline due to fears of being replaced by AI. No other company did more to create little dictatorships within the industry with more annoying software. Go ahead and drag JIRA and Confluence to the trash bin please.

If anyone's wondering why the MTA is plunging head-long into the new faregates project, this is the math. A $100m annual return on a $1b investment with a 30-year payback is no-brainer math.
If the $10 million annual savings is close to being true, that’s a good return on a $90 million investment…way more than their bonds’ rate of interest

Source for the $90 million cost: missionlocal.org/2025/06/sf-b...
BART’s new tall fare gates are bringing in an additional ten million dollars a year in revenue that would have been lost to fare evasion.

Last year, Phil Murphy supposedly killed Pompidou as retaliation for unendorsing Tami Murphy. I get that the budget situation is horrible this year, but can't we ask for that money for just general-purpose aid?

Very excited to say that the stars have aligned and NYU Marron/Transit Costs Project have landed a grant that will fund a second edition of Momentum, which will apply the high-throughput framework to major regional rail networks beyond the NY area.

Our three big new cases:
- NJT
- SEPTA
- METRA
The NYU-Marron report on electrification is out: It pairs electrification and other components to develop a high-throughput infrastructure design framework, which slashes time off of existing commuter and inter-city passenger rail services. We call it Momentum -- transitcosts.com/wp-content/u...

There's rightly a lot of discourse about San Francisco being physically cold (it's windy and on the water - East Bay tends to be much warmer) - but I think that misses that it's south of even DC, and tends to be much more temperate than NYC weather.

It will have weird implications if spending millions to tar a candidate as pro-ICE and reduce their support by 10% is a viable D primary strategy.

I want to go over the record to see what and wasn't said about taxes and covid funds five years ago. Lavarro and Rob Jr. decided not to run for mayor, and Spears ran an awful campaign. It was embarrassing how little he knew about policy, so he wasn't going to bring it up.

I called her a NIMBY the first few years - but she has legitimately changed, or at least become comfortable enough to act like you would expect an urban planner to.
It has been a rough few of years for Los Angeles, but Nithya Raman has been clear-eyed and solutions-oriented about the city's problems. Combine that with an understanding of government needed to effectuate change and I think she is an extremely strong candidate.
