there's not a nice way to say this: it's because it's normal people *who have experience being held meaningfully accountable for failure* rising to the occasion. people in actual real organizational roles IRL, paid or volunteer, who can't launder their failures through NGO-speak and retain clout.
Seeing all the “professional” activists go after Stancil is negatively polarizing me into a stance that Minnesota is winning because it’s normal people rising to the occasion and pushing a lot of activist nonsense out of the way by doing it

Even in Elon Musk’s denial of his involvement with Epstein—which directly contradicts the available evidence—the world’s richest man is still claiming he knew all about “pedo island” and didn’t do anything to stop it. Even in their fantasies of innocence they’re still directly enabling child abuse

How does anyone who's ever experienced wind chills of double digits below zero look at the wind industry and not think "Yes...ha ha...YES! The wind gods are the eternal enemies of Man and we must harness their awesome and malevolent power to operate our gadgets and reheat our lunch."
How does anyone look at the wind energy industry & not see astonishing, inspiring human achievement

Guys I was waiting for him to post footage - I KNOW HE HAS IT - but it seems like he may not. But last week I took Brad Lander on an ICE watch ridealong and he PERSONALLY CHASED OUT AN ICE CAR ON FOOT

I am not making this up. He walked right up to a lurking unmarked car and they tore out of town

The belief that a vote is a type of currency used to purchase a candidate-as-product instead of a collectively wielded power is an ultimate triumph of consumerism.

DOCTOR: I told him he needed to get out to a show, that was how he would cure his depression.

CHOTINER: So you learned this technique in school?

DR: No, not— listen it was good advice. Pagliacci was in town.

C: Right. Is it standard to give advice before learning a patient’s name?

DR: Now look

Sorry, Norcrosshaters, Matt Platkin's office bungled this so badly that a possibly winnable case doesn't even go to trial.

We told yall about that ol’ crater faced creature Tulsi Gabbard. Hillary Clinton called her out. Then Kamala Harris called her out to her face for being an apologist for Assad. But you know who never saw an issue with her? Ol’ 50 Stents who got knocked out by a shower door.

Just did a press ridealong commute in an away-from-home rapid response network with good press disclosure policies, and the world didn’t end, no one was doxxed, no identities were revealed. I did spend a lot of time lost. It can be done!

imagine: you're an Alcatraz seabird, maybe some sort of gull, looking at the shore. you don't have much to worry about in terms of predation on your nearly-inhospitable island home. tourists visit frequently still, dropping food. it's great. hey what's that brown fuzzy thing emerging from the water

Anyone who discusses American politics without this as a barometer, you're not adequately discussing American politics for what it is.
How would you describe the political viewpoint of the following person? (% of U.S. adult citizens)

The current Democratic coalition is every single person who has any idea how society works, any interest in maintaining it, or any scraps of empathy for their fellow human beings, and that's about 47% of the country, tops.
People like to remark that the Democratic party spans from Rashida Tlaib to Bill Kristol at this point but the fact is that's a far too small coalition to reliably win nationally, lol.

The violent occupation of Minneapolis started with a vlog. I've wanted to find a framework to describe Nick Shirley & others like him: "Influencer" is too quaint. "Journalist" is obviously wrong.

I landed on "slopagandist."
