senators should be required to do in-district town halls twice a month and then small round tables selected by lottery with interested constituents the other two weeks. in contact with normal people at least once a week. maybe more.

The secret to getting banned is posting something like this when you come back and not acting like they threw you in that prison with Bane and Batman

if you want a picture of the future, imagine Dave Portnay nailing a piece of wood into a human face (it takes forever)

A really fun time: I talked to Alex Horne and Greg Davies about 20! seasons! of Taskmaster, their thoughts on cast chemistry, designing tasks, their own bond, and what comes next. @vulture.com:

it’s this
if people felt like Bluesky's moderation policy was applied evenly, I doubt anyone would actually be that upset about Patton Oswalt getting kicked; the thing is, everyone already sees it as heavyhanded and capricious, so of course they're going to be upset

Disappeared? People talking like this about social fucking media? Touch grass is cliche but I'm guessing some people need more than a 72 hour break for their own well being. There are people in this country actually being disappeared every day.
using “disappeared” here is crazy work

for example: we just watched Joyce Carol Oates break Elon Musk’s psyche into 20,000 wriggling maggot-like pieces, and she said nothing anyone could ever construe as a bannable threat in the process
also the self-censorship people on here just sound Iike naive children to me

you can in fact viciously and highly effective criticize evil people without giving them needless points of vulnerability to get you back with

the astonishing thing about this wave of denialism is that we have more or less decidedly hit the point where clean energy is the *cheaper* option by some distance
I'm kind of baffled how the "moderates" have apparently all decided to turn against climate policy at once, just as China reaches green electrostate liftoff mode. I thought these people were all about National Greatness and making Hard Choices

vBulletin isn't dead; vBulletin isn't even past
BlueSky is a bad site used by good people. That describes most social media sites. But BlueSky is egregiously unethical. Any of you can be disappeared for baseless reasons. I've been on social media for 17 years and never been suspended. BlueSky is the first place to do so – over Johnny Cash lyrics.

"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

to coerce one victim whose mom had cancer, Epstein says to her: “I will decide which anesthesiologist is in the room”

what we also know: “Donald Trump spent hours with victims and knew what was going on.”
Trump is demanding that GOP side with him over Epstein's victims, Rep Ansari tells me. She had a harrowing exchange with one victim who recounts how her mom had cancer and he exploited that.

Also note her mockery of network disclaimers on Trump. More like this, Ds:

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*
