Speaking of such things…

New followers (that are actual people and/or sentient bots): Hi, welcome!

Are you sure about this?

No, really, are you sure this is wise?

I swear a lot, am frequently angry lately, but there are occasional cat and food posts.

Gallows humor is all I’ve got.
Look, if two feet of snow on the ground isn’t an excuse for serious carbs, I don’t know what is.

Yeah that’s got to be a very cold walk back across the bridge today. On the other hand, the Canadian border peeps are usually pretty friendly.
Just crossed to the U.S. at the Niagara Falls train border. Off train for passport checks. Two women who’d been sitting across from me were apparently planning to get off at the CANADA-side Niagara station & missed the announcement. But they have crossed over now; fate unclear. #KatieTrainDay

If we are saved from this clumsy attempt to create Hungary and Soviet state television, it won't be thanks to Congressional media reformers (who pretty much don't fucking exist), it will be thanks to the incompetence of this weird assortment of nepobabies and brunchlords

Finally, the Ewok movie we’ve been waiting for.
Taika Waititi: “I’m just trying to go back and harness a little bit more of the fun from the original films, which is what I remember [from] them.”

"For me to do something there, it would need to be a little different and a little bit more its own thing.”
Taika Waititi Says His ‘Star Wars’ Movie Needs to Be ‘More of Its Own Thing’ and He ‘Can’t Wait’ to See Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Taika Waititi joined the Variety Studio presented by Audible at Sundance to discuss 'Star Wars,' 'Avengers: Doomsday' and his new movie 'Fing!'

I feel like a little preventative maintenance ahead of time might not have been a bad idea? No? Just me?
Pittsburgh Mayor Corey O'Connor is holding a presser right now & says the city went into the storm with 95 salt & plow public works trucks and 37 went down & out of service over the course of the day.

stop using AI to do your research. it hallucinates too often. if you want an answer to something, post something arrogant on the appropriate subreddit. something like: "this item performs 10% better than everything else. only idiots deny this." this will bait nerds into doing your research for you.

There are people trying to stop others from using whistles, and next they'll say it's ableism.

As your disability advocate friend, I will be the first with serious sensory sensitivity to say that I would rather be in pain than someone get abducted, or shot.

Block/mute this argument, it's an op.

At the end of the day, the Black Lives Matter era was about whether people should be killed in the street, and lots of people decided yeah and put those little blue flags on their cars. It spread to everyone because it stopped for no one.

Our resident Great Blue Heron has been weathering the blizzard with aplomb. I spotted it knee-deep in snow in Central Park's Loch during the height of the storm. 💙🩶💙 #Herons #CentralPark #birding

Regarding latecomers, if that's what you want to call them: atonement is an action, not a statement. So they can go right ahead and atone over time and we will see what we see from them.

But you don't get to say, "I atone" and we accept that. Nah bro. You do the work and stop the harm, then we talk

HOW IT WORKS IN MOVIES:

1. Government lies

2. Brave heroes release video showing the truth

3. Press says “the government is lying!”

HOW IT APPARENTLY WORKS IN REAL LIFE

2. Government lies

3. Press says “Oh no, what now? So confusing! So hard!”

Or like “nonviolence won’t protect you from getting beaten/arrested/shot” no one who has ever practiced strategic nonviolence has ever thought that.
Like, “it’s no protestors who make protests violent, it’s the cops” yes! That’s the point of strategic nonviolence.

This morning, I recorded a video on TikTok about why DHS’s arguments for the power to enter homes without judicial warrants in immigration cases are bunk.

Nine hours later, TikTok still says my video is “under review,” and can’t be shared.

Well, here’s a link:

During the Soviet era, at times of govt instability, the state broadcaster would typically preempt scheduled broadcasts by airing performances of Swan Lake
And, tonight, the network's flagship news program -- 60 Minutes -- ran a clip show of old celeb interviews to "celebrate the movies" rather than put together an episode focused on what's going on in Minnesota.
The person who publishes the Free Press — where the words “Minneapolis” and “Minnesota” never appear tonight — also runs CBS News.

Starting in 1849, tons of men flooded into San Francisco seeking gold and glory. They were mostly reckless and lawless and didn't plan to stay in town long.
Early SF civic infrastructure was largely accomplished by "ladies of ill-repute" because no one else bothered much with investing in society.
I think @sarahjeong.bsky.social said it's because they devalue women's labor and a LOT of this Scary Logistics stuff comes from people who don't understand that basically all of the civic life they enjoy is created with the help of free labor, largely by women.
Tho I will say, in his defense, he's not the first person to be confused by how quickly the romance authors & readers can whip up finely tuned logistics out of nothing. 😂

The day Collins took control, all VA social media promotions were redirected towards raising his own personal profile. All materials were to ignore any previous successes and focus entirely on the current administration. This self-aggrandizing clown doesn't give a shit about anyone but himself.

Here’s why I really think more people should do this: 1) Publicly carrying your message gives people who see it strength and encourages them to share their own. 2) Someone in danger who sees a message like this knows they can run to you for help.
