My Super Bowl party is much more of a Bad Bunny party. I don't think a single person is watching the game other than the person shouting out how much time is left until halftime lmao

Gomez Escalante has heart issues and told his wife he was experiencing severe symptoms while in ICE custody; he hasn't been heard from since Monday when he was taken to a medical facility.
Maklim Gomez Escalante, who has a legal work permit and is in asylum process, was taken by ICE outside a Pittsburgh area district court.

When he presented his work permit card to the agents, "they snapped it in half and threw it away." @triblive.bsky.social

Journalism is a public service and I would be willing to accept paychecks commensurate with those of other public servants such as for example cops
It really is bewildering how some people will talk about journalism, as something crucial that they’re owed but also must be provided for free, which by extension means they are demanding journalists should toil without pay, something they’d never think to demand of their electrician or doctor
journalists are workers who deserve to be paid fairly for our labor and I think that far too few consumers of media recognize or even care about this fact

Man I am not one to complain about the refs but this ref absolutely has it out for the Penguins tonight. Rewarding embellishment after embellishment and there's no way that 3rd Ottawa goal was legit.

I love when I read a Chotiner interview and I can hear the whistling noises as his statements sail over the head of his subject.

Like the sound of an incoming mortar shell.

Men, ask any woman -- ANY woman -- how old she was the first time an adult man hit on her, harassed her, hollered at her. I was 10!
It's hard to overstate how NORMAL it was to sexualize teen girls when I was growing up.

"Jailbait" jokes were everywhere, I was constantly sexually harassed by men in cars when walking to school in 6th grade.

Epstein is of an cohort where it was GENERALLY maybe a little edgy but not extreme.
I need people to understand that it’s not just Epstein, it’s the entire rape culture that existed before and after him at every socioeconomic level. That’s why Epstein, who I’ve never thought was particularly smart or interesting, was able to pull this all off—he recognized how abuse functions

so yeah, I was near the front and saw the whole thing unfold. the federal officers opened their garage door, about a dozen marched out, and they started throwing gas and launching flash bangs, etc. not even time for provocation. there was no easy escape, so ppl had to walk thru the gas to get away.
This was the peaceful protest in Portland today. This was 15 minutes before tear gas being released. The crowd, was filled with members of 33 of our city's workers' unions...families, kids, and elders who were tear gassed. No warning, no time to disperse before 3 more flash bangs were released.

I keep thinking of all the times I've covered protests and stepped off the sidewalk or run ahead of the march or gone somewhere "unapproved" to get a shot, and all the times I HAVEN'T been arrested.

The arrests of Lemon and Fort are meant to have a chilling effect on journalists.
The strongest "evidence" that Fox/DOJ can cite here is that Lemon entered the church shortly before the protesters did.

Of course, that's common when a journalist has a camera and knows something is about to happen.

It isn't a conspiracy to commit a crime, unless you see journalism as a crime.
Here’s the Fox News/DOJ account of the church incident that led to Lemon’s arrest.

You can see why the magistrate turned down prosecutors.

Saw @daniskitchen.bsky.social's question about the City of Pittsburgh suspending trash collection through Sunday & what that means for biweekly recycling. Texted my assignment editor who emailed the City: the answer is sticking to your regular schedule & you have to hold onto a month of recyclables.
