Vibes among House Democrats and activists, "The Senate is the enemy"

I had five amazing days of sleep and hope that we we were finally forging a path through and out of this fascist hellscape. Apparently @senatedemocrats.bsky.social can only snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, and continue to follow Chamberlain’s appeasement theory of government.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

Agree with this.

About to publish something on the airplane mess. But this too is ON THE REPUBS. It is not a reason to cave. Dems, it is a time to keep standing up.
Opening the government with no concessions from GOP merely to alleviate airline cancellations - when Congress has been dragging its feet for years on chronic FAA staffing issues - is a lame ass choice.

Also, doing it while the House refuses to work is appalling.

There is *no* upside to the promise of a vote on a piece of legislation that is guaranteed to have a poison pill (ie Hyde language). And they'll instantly assume a disproportionate share the blame for the shutdown. It's a lose now *and* lose later situation. It's absurd levels of loser strategy

@schumer.senate.gov @democrats.senate.gov the idea that you’d cave without an actual commitment to FUND ACA subsidies, not just vote, is abhorrent. They are morally bankrupt and this hell is waking ppl up. Fascists do not negotiate and we lose even more if we try.

Seems like a winning strategy from a team that definitely plans to have fair elections.

For all the military fuckery on display today, I’m reminding myself that it’s just the spectacle/TLDR/TikTok version of what they’re already clearly doing. The fear is the point. The (still dangerous) on-the-ground reality remains the same as yesterday, just with more visual shock and awe.

I've really come to think that many people recoil from climate politics, as they did from Covid politics, not *in spite* of the fact that the problem obviously calls for (can only be solved by) solidarity & cooperation, but *because* of it.
