Hey, all. I’m Shawn French, a writer from Maine. I got my start as a newspaper sports editor before transitioning to fiction. My first big project was my 2007 horror flick The Wrong House, where my wife and I played serial killers, and I performed a whole lot of ill-advised stunts.

Joke of the day from Moscow: Russia tried to unveil its first humanoid AI robot, Aidol. Key word: tried. The robot collapsed during its debut, forcing organizers to cut the presentation short. Their rushed attempt to lift the prop only made things worse.

Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.

Writers should internalize Lao Tzu's lesson about how the emptiness at the center of a wheel is what makes it useful, and how a pot is valuable because of where the clay *isn't*. Corporate geek culture has warped us into thinking that negative spaces are flaws that need to be fixed.

Honestly, if your job application that is going to get thousands of applicants takes 2 hours to fill out, you're kind of an asshole.
I get that you want good info on your candidates, but that could def be a second round requirement, not the 99% who you auto reject.
