One thing that is quite clear from the golden age of Pan-Africanism is that (like Garveyism) it is an inherently forward thinking ideology built on the very early 20th century ideas of Africa (and the general black diaspora) having "no tradition" that would allow for european-style nationbuilding.
major problem with a lot of pan-africanism is how transparently uninterested it is in the actual diversity of pre-colonial african societies, economies, and modes of thought
The "powerful critique of neoliberal capitalism" of "not having enough food to eat" and "being forced to live on a communal farm." The peasantry specifically actively resisted ujaama because the traditional model of Tanzanian agriculture was individual family farms, not communal ownership!

My inner saboteur drives many of my feelings… I’m always convinced I’ve done nothing all year. But when I actually look back, I’m in awe of how full it was, how I pushed myself further and rose to the occasion whenever I could. Even with all the sorrow and loss, there was so much life here.
