I agree with this but it means that no Democrat currently in office can be a part of that opposition, it literally cannot be run by anyone associated with the current government because they’re all compromised in various ways
imo it's pollyanna-ish to believe that the general political situation--the trump regime writ large--unwinds peacefully. the big political project of opposition should be building the infrastructure and installing leaders who could actually win the inevitable standoff we're careening towards

I’m of the firm belief that police and militia members have been quietly running right wing death squads in the US for years. The fate of the most notable Ferguson protestors is the most blatant example of it. ICE in 2025-26 is simply the same people operating in public.
