Bracing myself for the double-tap of “it must be so nice to have a break” followed by “so anything new on the horizon?” this holiday, as if i’m a bon vivant swanning around between projects instead of a freelancer manically vacillating between passively and actively terrified.
one more week of work before my first non-unemployed vacation since 2022. unemployed "vacation" didn't really count. the clock still ticks, cage still lowering into the water, the willpower it takes to temporarily ignore it is so draining. best you get is "no point applying/checking email right now"

This is our generations equivalent of all TVs now having motion smoothing on by default except now we won’t even be able to turn that shit off at thanksgiving. Slopworld never ends.
Youtube has announced that all low-res videos (i.e. older ones) are to be automatically AI upscaled to HD.
Creators can opt-out on a per video basis (but the channel may be long abandoned).
When researching props or behind the scenes, old videos are useful, but not if upscaling produces artefacts.
