Serfs, Karen, the word you're looking for is serfs.
Watching the Mahmood announcement and debate. Tory backbencher (Karen Bradley) suggests putting refugees into debt and making them repay during the rest of their lives. Mahmood says she’ll think about it.

I think the most charming thing about Warhammer 40k is, at its heart, the lore feels like two five-year-olds constantly trying to one-up one another.

"MY guy is RAMBO and SHOOTS your guy!"
"Nuh-UH cuz my guy is made of DIAMONDS and EATS the bullet!"
"The bullet EXPLODES!"
"No cuz his tummy is ACID"

Not even going to get in to the weeds of how self-pitying Nuzzi's "I Did A Shit With My Clothes On: A Survivor's Tale" press tour is, OR that she landed another six-figure salary at a legacy publication ten months later.

Look at this prose. If my mag got sent this, we'd have the writer arrested.

yeah. MeToo, the George Floyd protests, and an ~18 month period of very tight labor markets induced a mental breakdown across the power elite bsky.app/profile/laur...
it didn't even really provide me with any new information but that one email between epstein and some other random rich elite saying "when will the madness end" about the metoo movement felt like a key unlocking my brain that will explain every unforced institutional capitulation we've seen

Holy shit. They're really doing it. They're doing "actually pedophilia is good now." The debasement of the American Right is complete.

Popularity contest between NHS staff and this guy? I’d be putting my cash on the doctors to win that one, myself.

pretty funny in retrospect that QAnon hinged on the idea that powerful elites at the highest levels of government were smart enough to talk in code when sending emails to each other about their despicable crimes

One of the defining feelings in American life, for decades now, is elites doing plainly criminal shit and nothing at all happening as a result. It is deranging in a way that virtually nothing else is. Media fixates on perceived street lawlessness but shit like this matters much more in my opinion.

it is simply crazy that we live in a world where politicians have to backtrack and deny that they ever called for defunding the police, when the real people who should be made to answer for their extremism are those who support the current realities of our police state

liberals and conservatives alike talk about defunding the police and decarceration as if these are extreme, radical, unthinkable ideas— but truly what is more extreme, radical, and unthinkable than what's happening *right now* in our police state.
This week on Reveal: A ‘Goon Squad’ of sheriff’s deputies roamed Rankin County, Mississippi, beating and choking people until they confessed to drug crimes.

Signs of the violence went ignored for years.
How a ‘Goon Squad’ of Mississippi deputies got away with years of brutality
