Any followers happen to work at Meta or know someone who does?

I need to update my payment information from my campaign bank acct, to my business acct. Bc I'm pretty sure a creator getting paid through a political campaign bank account is SUPER illegal.

But Meta's back end won't let me 💀

Invading Venezuela is a dunderhead move.

We just did 20 years of war in Iraq & Afghanistan. It ruined lives, wrecked those countries' infrastructure, & got a lot of people hating Americans more than they did before.

A net loss for absolutely everyone. Except oil co's & military contractors.

Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

This is called pillaging.
ICE detain father shopping on Christmas Eve—then steal his family's groceries.

Then 3 agents divvy up his paid for food—taking what they want for themselves.

"Can I just get the wife's number to call and let her know?" woman asks.

"No, guess he should've complied," agent says.

Nearly of the US's garlic comes from China. Another quarter of it from Spain.

At least it did before the trade war.

It's possible some of the garlic being sold rn is the tail end of garlic that was shipped in before the tariffs started.

Some possible reasons: US went from potato exporter to importer. Mostly from Canada.

Most of the potato parts of Canada are pretty close to the potato parts of the US (AB & BC vs ID, OR, & WA). So it's not a HUGE difference. But it can change up supply chains just enough to be noticeable.
Has anyone noticed that in the last few years the potatoes simply don’t keep as long? Wtf is up with that

IMHO enchiladas shouldn’t have tomatoes in the sauce. The word means “chili-ed.” As in coated in chili (or chile) pepper sauce.

Shower thought: way more food is "mostly just grain + cheese + tomato" than you would think

lasagna

spaghetti (marina + parmesan etc)

enchiladas

grilled cheese & tomato soup

nachos if there's salsa

I gotta be missing some

Update:

-I got Venmo to work!

-Then the checks arrived in the mail.

-Recipient duly trashed the checks, bc Venmo payments had been withdrawn from my account.

-Venmo locked his account for "suspicious activity" (new account getting paid too much I guess)

-Now he & I both don't have the money
Today's Journey in Enshittification: I'm trying to pay a guy and NOTHING is working?

Sent the check through the mail: It didn't arrive.

Venmo: It worked! Once! Refuses a repeat performance with "technical error, try again later."

Sounds like Brexit's going well 🥲
Was reading in the Guardian that modern automotive headlamps are being stolen off of Porsches and BMWs in Britain so the heat map of the illegal grow houses are low.

My younger son has a small legal grow house in Alberta and has been using LEDs for a decade. Hydro bills are normal, too.

Here's the fun thing about legalization, state-level legalization hasn't really helped the safety angle.

It's still illegal at the federal level. So food & safety agencies (which are mostly state-level) are breaking federal law if they inspect & enforce safety laws on weed grows. So they don't.
Better off just legalizing the stuff and making sure it's produced safely.
I have a suspicion that some of the health effects that get chalked up to chronic weed use may have been more about chronic pesticide exposure. Especially before legal dispensaries showed up.

But since you still can't really research this stuff, we'll probably never know.
December 13, 2025 at 4:51 PM
Kinda sorta?

There were some advances in LED tech ~10-20 years ago that made them cheap enough for plants. Before that, greenhouses & indoor weed growers both used high pressure sodium lamps.

Exactly.

If there IS local media, it rarely covers "how the county commission is shady."

Bc then, the county commission kicks you out of their meetings! Blacklists you from anything that matters!

Then you have nothing to report on! You're not even local media anymore!
Printed out the article and read it last night. If anything it shows the importance of county level elections in rural areas. I'm also assuming there's little to no local media covering these issues in Morrow County.
December 4, 2025 at 9:12 PM
Yes thank you!

We keep doing this & then we wonder why rural areas "don't feel seen."
This is in the next county over from me.

For folks who don’t live in rural counties, there’s a class of politician that does this. Over and over again. They skim off the coffers because no one sees or because of stories like this where people miss who the recurring bad actors are
Rolling Stone: clearly documents a 30+ year long con job. A rural county's own leadership lined their pockets by helping ag interests destroy the water supply.

Everyone who read the article apparently??: Amazon data centers did this in 2011
