Years ago, when independent newspapers and local media began to disappear, one of the funniest and most incisive cartoonists asked for direct support so he could continue to make brilliant stuff. This was rare at the time.

I’ve been a subscriber since then and I CANNOT recommend it highly enough!

From just before Trump invaded Venezuela and started threatening Denmark.
Biden's aging brain caused him to slow down and cede decisions to his staff of experts.

Trump's form of dementia is causing deteriorated impulse control, and the confabulation of lies and fantasies, driving him to violence and destruction, which his cadre of sycophants only encourage.

There were plenty of leaks. But the recipients of the leaks opted not to publish.

And... Trump was president in 2017.

The intent of democracy is for the powerful decide what the intent of democracy is and then use anti-democratic means to impose it.
GOP Rep. Carlos Gimenez: "Even Chavez was elected democratically, but he used democracy against democracy in order to remain in power. That's not really the intent of democracy."

You can tell someone is an articulate, intelligent, serious thinker if they use "eff" instead of "fuck" when they invoke a moronic cliche used in bar fights when justifying a war.

Could not disagree more. Look at Trump's attitude when he lost in 2020. He was defiant, mendacious, and ultimately violently treasonous. He's only gotten worse, and he will react to any setback with denials of reality and any illegal means at his disposal to fight it.
Ok everyone got their easy dunks out of the way, here's a substantive one

THIS happened BECAUSE he was completely defeated. The George W Bush Presidency had effectively ended at that point. He lost not just the House, but the Senate too, because voters hated him. You get THIS when WE WIN.
Not a fan of Bush but he was a step up from what we got now.

Opinions on "superintelligence" can reasonably differ. (Personally I think it's a terrible framing that obscures more than it clarifies.) But I still struggle to comprehend why anyone would think LLMs are the route to it.

I spent a New Years in Amsterdam a few years ago, and I’m shocked this kind of thing doesn’t happen every year. Everyone gets drunk and sets off huge fireworks in the streets on an unimaginable scale.

There is an Instagram account that I don’t write or post about that gives me information, clues, and predictions about Trump’s health that I do not dare allow myself to believe, but secretly thrill at each new installment.
