a DETAIL, I know, but on the Neil Gaiman statement: before he gushes about his obsessed anonymous fan's "journalism," he says, "I was a journalist once."

Dude only got those gigs because HE LIED ON HIS RESUME ABOUT HAVING A PUBLISHING HISTORY HE DID NOT HAVE, he admits this proudly in interviews

while referring to a clearly-obsessive anonymous hyperfan on Substack as an "investigative reporter"
As someone who's first major obsession in media was Neil Gaiman
I am so disgusted by the fact that he is taking no accountability and is dismissing the fact that he has been accused of sexual assault and coercion by NINE different women and saying it was a all a smear campaign TWO YEARS LATER

Body cameras? For what? So that their hands can be freed up for more violence that they revel in documenting?

It's pretty amazing to me the amount of shit that apparently you can Just Do as an NYC mayor. It makes basically every other American politician look like an incompetent loser.

What do you mean there was just a button that reversed wage theft? Why wasn't and isn't everyone hitting it all the time??

this. and to add: I'm reading a lot more about "billionaire antics" as though that's hot or exciting than I'm reading empathy for survivors. fuck the way this has ALL gone down in every direction by everybody
Everyday countless kids in this country are abused by people who aren’t billionaires or “elites” and adults look the other way or treat is as a rite of passage…that’s what I think every time I hear adults gossiping about those files.

THIS.
Trump is nothing if not ready to sacrifice anyone and anything in order to save his own ass and the single most important thing that could happen right now is someone convincing him that the biggest driver of his unpopularity is not just Bovino and Noem but Stephen Miller personally
Feels like Trump is pretty much unconditionally surrendering as support collapses

Cacho's Social Death remains so relevant. In it, she explains how our national identity is grounded in the idea that some people are ineligible for personhood. There are valued citizens (Renee Good, Alex Pretti). And there are people who lack human value (Keith Porter, Silverio Villegas Gonzalez).

this snowstorm has rendered our neighborhood majestically beautiful and kids are sledding down hills with family and undergrads are sledding down hills with friends and dogs are having a *time* of it AND our neighbors wrote FUCK ICE in the snow

life at the moment is lovely in Athens, Ohio

We are observers, not protestors. We show up to document and film the atrocities ICE is committing. Using 5 year olds as bait. Kidnapping senior citizens. Breaking down doors without warrants. Murdering poets and nurses. Media has all of that information because *observers* were there to document it

I don’t want to hear anything from an elected official unless it’s a plan to defund the DHS and impeach Noem, Bovino, etc. No texts. No emails. No talk about the economy. Step up or step off.

-Prince, on Minneapolis.

Good folks out there working hard to get the bad people out, too.
It’s -9 degrees. Downtown Minneapolis is packed for the anti-ICE rally and the crowd keeps growing

I don't always post like I believe or understand this but in my SOUL I do
the perennial "is this a good replacement for twitter / can it become as big as twitter" discussion is so confused. hominids became bipedal about 7 million years ago. for most of the time since we did not have microblogging. it's not a necessity it's a habit, if it all goes away that's fine
