Heard NPR’s correspondent, who is not in Venezuela, explain that people in Venezuela woke up to this news. Yet everyone I’ve heard from was up all night.

Intense observation on what the U.S. state is and isn’t doing requires critical attention to what the U.S. press is and isn’t doing, too.

I mapped it out and Bannon’s mansion is an eight-minute drive to Chomsky’s three-acre ranch. It would be shorter but you have to drive around the country club that divides the streets there.

I removed all AI features from my email account. This means all messages that were previously filtered into social and promotion tabs now go to my primary box. I've been unsubscribing to dozens of useless emails and newsletters, many which I never singed up for. 10/10, highly recommend.

Ok who wants a bizarre no stakes mystery to solve?

I had to go to the hospital by ambulance this morning (heart stuff, am ok now.)

A bunch of ambulance guys came into our living room to get me.

The basis of eugenics is that race is a genetic trait; eugenics cites biology (not white supremacy) as the justification for the inequity we see in the world today. Genetic optimization reinforces the same notion. Making excuses for eugenics, as Sanchez does here, is unacceptable.

This is good but missed an opportunity to explain the sheer joy of rehabbing a vintage Coach bag found in the wild.

Are New Coach Bags As Good As Vintage Ones? We Investigated.
Buzz and demand for Coach bags have boomed over the past few years. But the best place to buy Coach bags is the vintage market. Here’s why.

This is the first graph from the book, which shows that the increase in work hours for women and decrease in housework time (bc of time-saving technology) exactly offset each other. But that increase in childcare time? Unaccounted for. We spend twice as much time with our kids as a generation ago!

Hi! Since others are talking about my book, thought I'd share a little about it. The book is a love letter to women everywhere wondering why their time just isn't adding up. It turns out, it's not you! We are getting massively squeezed by structural changes! 🧵

You probably saw videos of a nighttime raid in Chicago. Agents rappelling from a helicopter, bursting down doors, questioning brown-skinned immigrants.

We investigated -- and found little evidence to support the government’s claims about Tren de Aragua.

A juvie guard was found not guilty of battery and official misconduct last week. “The defendant puts his hand on [the child] and maybe pushes him at best,” the judge in the case said. “There is no picking up and throwing down.”

Watch the video. Tell me if you agree and if you also agree that 2+2=5.

Jeffrey Epstein was developing a series, moderated by @lkrauss1.bsky.social, to bring scientists and celebrities together. The first season would include an episode where "Woody Allen talks about the human condition with Linguist Noam Chomsky."

I keep wondering whether the NYT Connections game I played this morning is accessible to all users. Without giving away any of the word links, it's to imagine how some of the images could be described in such a way that makes it useful or fair for people with low vision.

While not exactly empty, Chicago’s Chinatown feels like a shell of its usual self. On Sundays at 2p there’s usually a 45-minute wait for Qing Xiang Yuan; 30 minutes if you’re lucky. Today, there wasn’t even a line.

This brilliant little article gets at what I’ve seen but haven’t yet read: Chicago locals, regardless of status, are apprehensive about venturing out to restaurants and food stalls targeted by ICE. The result is a whole sector in economic and social crisis.
