What can I wish upon the monsters making things worse for all of us?

Hmmm....

I wish that all of them feel the pain they've visited unto others tenfold.

got an actual LEGITIMATE START last night on ALLLLLLLL the things I have to get done next week and achieving any level of anything at this moment in history feels like defying the nature of existence so that's

...it's what I don't know what I'm anemic and still have a whole-ass day left of the week

I have a laughable amount of work to do but I just took a quick break to take a quiz about which Jane Austin novel I belong in and I got Persuasion which could REALLY send my mind to SOME PLACES if I had time to think about it good thing I don't anyway back to work thank you all for being here

people like to think we say "survivor" purely because that sounds more powerful than "victim," but remember there's another reason that none of us should get comfortable with: survivors are worth noting because not everyone does

Hey so “underage girls” are…children. The word you’re looking for is children. They’re not like, women-in-waiting or women-lite or whatever. They’re children. I think some of you are very uncomfortable with what that means for you but it is still true.

genuinely terrifying to me that there are conservative media outlets rushing to defend trump EVEN NOW. given what we can now read right in front of us, I can't help but suspect that no one would defend this man who didn't themselves have some SHIT to hide

and if Michael Wolff represents media...

The Epstein story gets a something that is tearing at the heart of the electorate: elite impunity. The idea that wealthy and powerful people can do terrible things *at scale* and face no consequences for them. Whatever political party actually stops it could rule the country for a generation.

also. FOR THE SAKE OF VIRGINIA GIUFFRE and for all others who didn't survive the sexual abuse they endured, can we FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGE FOR THE BOOKS that Ghislaine Maxwell is not one woman in a million? WOMEN CAN BE SEXUAL PREDATORS TOO and we've gotten NOWHERE by our refusal to understand this

ugh. can we stop with "pedo" references and other edgily funny/saucy ways of referring to the fact that a confirmed sexual predator is the most powerful man in the world?

acting like this is some kind of pulp page-turner is a searing insult to survivors, not to mention those who didn't survive it

the reality of my going to work is that I love the walk there, I'm over the MOON about getting to wear my cozy fashions again, and I'm grateful for my job. but for some reason the IDEA of going to work feels so TRYING, like WAIT BUT I HAVE TO GO *DO* THINGS HOW WILL I BE ABLE TO PROCESS BEING ALIVE

disheartening to see so many "bookish" accounts celebrate Neil Gaiman's birthday. He's been a predator for decades, and building up a reverent fan base by meticulous large-scale manipulation is how he found victims.

Justice for the survivors who have spoken out and those who are still afraid to.

told Ian about jco vs. elon and he reminded me that I once inadvertently set off an existential firestorm in a white man of stature who couldn't handle critique. I wrote a not-fully-positive book review and he went after me on Twitter for 3 days, accused me of keeping him from being able to work.

The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

told my class they needed to see @realgdt.bsky.social's Frankenstein and preferably catch it at the theater where it's still playing this week. If it were a class of my design I'd have connected it FLUIDLY to our material but it isn't so it was apropos of nothing but I felt DUTY-BOUND
