26 years ago today I beat the Mariner moose at a weight lifting competition on Alex Rodriguez's 21st birthday.
Damn right! Thats my cousin on the Olympic team protecting her health and the people around her!!!!

She has been open about her struggles the last 2 years with chronic fatigue, celiac, and Hashimotos and it's so great seeing her out there in a mask!

this is a phenomenal quote

Every day Mamdani comes out and is like "hey guys, I turned off the orphan-crushing machine. Literally just had to flip a switch. Took less than 5 minutes."

After decades of dem leadership pissing and moaning and fundraising about how complex an issue it is and how difficult the process is etc

CNN reporting that a week before Alex Pretti was killed, 5 agents tackled him and he suffered a broken rib. CNN says he stopped his car after he saw ICE agents interacting with a family on foot and began to blow his whistle. Source tells CNN Pretti believed “That day he thought he was going to die”

A lot of people are going to claim that they are against fascism without ever considering that they support all the cultural conditions that would bring about fascism.
i feel for all the radical centrists out there now confronting the fact that their ideology was the one built in a bubble and formed by groupthink. with enough exposure to facts and logic they will, some day god willing, catch up to the left

First thing I did when I got my driver's license was go to a Borders and get a collection of Get Fuzzy
why did so many millennials read so many newspaper comics? easily 60 percent of my reading diet in elementary/middle school was collected editions of calvin and hobbes, farside, dilbert, peanuts, doonesbury (!), foxtrot (?!?) and i know im not alone. historically unique phenomenon
rather than talk about Scott Adams I want to talk about something weirder (me). Who else was really into Dilbert when you were 12. Who else was like, boy, I can't wait to work a cubicle job

Other things that do more harm than good when you don't count the number of lives they save:

- air bags (messy)
- traffic lights (expensive)
- bridge inspections (boring)
- carbon monoxide alarms (battery low beep so annoying)

there needs to be a sex offender registry but for ice guys. you should have to go door to door when you move to a new area and inform your neighbors that you used to be an ice guy. they shouldn't be allowed with 500 feet of a school

Want to know something? They actually do know. Autofocus in modern cameras usually uses infrared light bursts, which your pets can see. To them it’s like a flash of light, and it startles them.
I’ve seen enough. I’m calling it. The cat understands when you’re taking pictures of her and she doesn’t like it

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

For comparison, every robotic mission NASA has ever sent in its history, from the dawn of the Space Age 65 years ago to today, from Mercury to Pluto and beyond, has cost less than $40B.

I know which one has done more for humankind and which one should be dismantled.
Mark Zuckerberg’s gamble on the ‘Metaverse’ has cost Meta more than $77B

The company now plans to cut spending on it and shift focus to AI wearables instead
