LIFE GOAL: GAMING STUPID SYSTEMS

Regulation, justice, climate - are among things I work on.
Science fiction, Baroque music, Frank Zappa are things I don't work on and enjoy very much.

Poor Donald. He's so stupid and confused.

He thinks Barack Obama (who was no longer in power) controlled the 2020 election.

And he thinks Joe Biden (who wasn't yet in power) authorized FBI agents to be sent to the Capitol on Jan 6, 2021, when DOJ reported to Trump.

Imagine watching Sinatra, son of Dolly & Antonini born in Genoa & Sicily, respectively, and Martin, son of Gaetano & Angela, born in Montesilvano, Italy & Ohio respectively, (Angela to parents born in Monasterolo, Italy), and crusading against the value of children of immigrants to the U.S.

You know what every great opera house, concert hall, theater, and show venue in the world has in common?

They don't have marble armrests.

especially at this point, when material like this has been weaponized by a far-right, anti-semitic administration. incredibly poorly thought through.
I don't know anything about this class or the professor who teaches it - maybe it's good, maybe it isn't. But either way, I am deeply uncomfortable with national Jewish advocacy organizations going after individual classes at universities because they dislike the content. This will not end well.

As we bomb Nigeria for Xmas, remember that Leonard Leo, in 2009 as a USCIRF political appointee, was one of the first to push for Nigeria to be named a “country of particular concern” opening to way for trump attack.

Some USCIRF commissioners openly dissented.

I always thought Plato was pretty pollyannaish on this point, but this is decent evidence for the view that a man of bad character will therefore be unhappy even with every external trapping of success and good fortune.
President Donald Trump gifted the world with nearly 200 Truth Social posts (and counting) on Christmas Day, where he amplified conspiracy theories about the 2020 election and called for a member of Congress to be deported.

These psychos care immensely about online chatter about them, even though they pretend they don’t care. Musk sued Media Matters, Thiel sued Gawker. They care desperately and we on the left don’t invest enough time, energy and money in pushing out good, accurate, embarrassing intel.
We need to otherize weird right wing billionaires like the smear campaigns they fund against minorities do. Musk leads a baby breeding cult and Thiel wants to suck up the blood of young people. They’re fucking weird and more people need to know.

Sinatra hated racists and would have punched Miller in the mouth.

Or as Phil Hartman's impression of Sinatra put it, "I got chunks of guys like you in my stool."

I can handle people advocating for a totalitarian society with outcomes precisely like their idiosyncratic prejudices.

I just can’t handle people who are so insufferably pretentious about how they get there.
I had missed this latest delirium by Adrian Vermeule on birthright citizenship

'Common law?! NAH, it's the Roman law of adoption that should govern the interpretation of the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution!'

NYT: look these are inherently subjective judgments, one man’s field of sorghum is another man’s terrorist
NYT version typically incomprehensible: “President Trump said the targets of airstrikes in Nigeria were Islamic State terrorists responsible for killing Christians, but experts question his framing.” One would hope so if indeed the targets were empty fields www.nytimes.com/2025/12/26/w...

is there anybody even denying that the pardons are paid for or do we just kind of all accept this now?
GOP operatives Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman, convicted election fraudsters, were paid $960,000 in the second quarter to secure a pardon for a former nursing-home operator who defrauded the government of $38 million. Trump pardoned the man, Joseph Schwartz, last month.
