we said all along that they wanted Gawker dead not because we embarrassed a pro wrestler but because the Epstein story is one Gawker was covering a decade before most other people caught up & was just one of many stories exposing powerful people and their misdeeds
Among the batch of newly released emails from Jeffrey Epstein: Epstein telling Peter Thiel he would “gladly share…expenses for the Gawker suit.”

This was sent the day after @rmac.bsky.social and @mattdrange.bsky.social reported in Forbes that Thiel was behind the lawsuit that would bankrupt Gawker

This gets into why Thiel hated Gawker so much. The TL;DR is he realized the power of the press - especially by people who weren't especially wooed by the billionaire class - and it unsettled him.

You can like or hate Gawker, but they really terrified him.
This Is Why Billionaire Peter Thiel Wants to End Gawker
Why has Silicon Valley billionaire Peter Thiel spent upwards of $10 million funding third-party lawsuits against Gawker? If you believe his interview with the New York Times, Thiel’s willingness to ba...

"microtransactions in games started by cabal of pedophile elites for the purpose of indoctrinating kids into an economy"

Ok. Well, we all knew it was evil somehow but I really didn't expect Epstein to be responsible for why video games are bad now. That's just not what I would've thought.

The messed up part is the AI bubble is so vast that it is managing to obscure a huge pile of other existential threats to the economy… like bankruptcies at a 15 year high, auto loan delinquency at an all time high, buy now pay later companies carrying $700bn of debt, off the top of my head.

Chaos.
Right, so video game company stocks are crashing because the power of AI supposedly renders them irrelevant. Meanwhile, Microsoft and Oracle stocks are crashing because they spent too much on AI and the market knows they'll never make a return. The economy is absolutely hosed

It's only considered valuable if it's performed by a CEO~ or a Founder~ because they're a special kind of person who blesses the rest of us with their genius, so *of course* we should give them credit for keeping themselves alive.

The rest of us are just parts in their machinery, disposable.
and the annoying thing is, they aren't even wrong.

taking care of yourself *is* work, as is housework and going to the dentist and picking your kids up from school and going to the post office, etc.

the problem is that it's never counted for anyone who has to work for a *wage*.
