Let's bring this back!

Standing offer, always valid: Name five books you love, and I will recommend a book I think you'll like. It will likely be queer. It will definitely be sff.
Hello fellow figure skating fans!

Today, in about half an hour, we've got the pairs free programs, where I'm rooting for the Canadians and the Japanese, and against the Germans and the Hungarians.

Hilary Cass here arguing for children to be prevented from being known by a preferred name or getting a haircut in case it encourages them to continue later in life to transition.

Hilary Cass acts like gender variant children should have the transness hazed out of them.

Right-wing racists are convinced that everyone is as feckless, cowardly, racist, and evil as they are, and they are simply wrong.

Yeah, this is pretty much exactly what I thought about when I saw Musk's stupid racist tweet: Minnesotans have spent the last month and a half saying we will die to defend our multicultural community.
It's also part of a very direct negation of the latest stupid tweet by Musk: people have given so much, two of them their lives, to defend a multicultural city and the rights of people not exactly like them. And that multiculturalism is American culture.

Over the course of the last month or so I've reread @amalelmohtar.com's Seasons of Glass and Iron, one story or poem after each book. And I've put my thoughts on it down in electrons, this time.

I'm going to expand a bit on that last point. Since moving here, I read and heard a lot of criticism of the prime minister and his party. And I'm sympathetic, I really am.

But here's a thing about Carney: He's not a monster.

Low bar, I know. But I lived with Netanyahu as PM for SO LONG.
I haven't been following the curling, and Canada hasn't cheated in the sports I DO follow, so I'm just gonna continue believing my new country has never done anything wrong.

Don't tell me about the wrong things. I know about the wrong things. We're pretending, here. Plus, still better than Israel.

Got one more sportsball thing in tonight and watched the second half of South Carolina @ LSU. Dawn Staley gets her 500th win, beating Kim Mulkey for that extra good feeling.

Great game. Close game. Gamecocks were clutch.

Well, this is obviously a terrible idea. Noteworthy on the BBC front is how they correctly frame it as an attempt to fight bias CLAIMS, not the actual bias issues. Cause we all know AI only perpetuates those.

Anyway, ISU, don't.

Unrivaled fans, please note that today's semi finals and finals of the 1-on-1 tournament start at 6 PM Eastern time.

That's 5 PM for us here in Winnipeg and for our southern neighbors in Minnesota.

So it's in a little over 2 hours.

I understand basketball. I've been watching it for about 50 years. I played it in high school. Badly.

I also understand Football. The NFL kind. I watched that for at least a couple of decades.

I still have vestigial understanding of football, the futbol kind. I used to watch that a lot.

The nice thing about watching team Canada play hockey in these olympics is that it isn't very stressful. They're either destroying or - in one sad case - being destroyed.

Doesn't make for thrilling games, though.

Is Emerald Fennell the Mark Millar of filmmakers? (derogatory)

Disclaimer: I haven't watched Fennell's work since hating the second season of Killing Eve, which she was the showrunner for. I have read some cutting critique, though.

hey so, what's the upper limit on "this is an actual human being" to you?

6 thousand followers? 10?

genuinely curious, what's the number that makes me stop being a person?
did I already hit it?
ignore it. why do you big accounts always complain? it’s like a celebrity complaining they get too much attention in the street. it comes with the territory. just ignore or mute those accounts. it seems you might have a kind of para social relationship back.
