The death of any child is tragic. We always think it will not be my child, they are healthy. Severe influenza can be unpredictable & deadly. Getting vaccinated considerably reduces dz severity and deaths. Please make sure you are vaccinated & your children are too.

This morning I passed 12k miles ridden on my e-bike in hilly #SanFrancisco. That’s 12k miles I didn’t drive in a car. Am I proud? Yes! I never would have dreamt I could lose my total car dependence but life is so much better without it! #bike

My spouse, me, and our 10 year old son all got the flu vaccine at the start of the season—it’s not too late 💪💪💪
NY is having a bad flu season. More hospitalizations last week than any week on record.

Health authorities are encouraging everyone aged 6mo+ to get the flu vax (it's not too late).

Find a provider here: on.nyc.gov/getvaccinated. You can filter for sites where there's no cost for the uninsured.

“Car bloat”—increasingly oversized automobiles—worsens road safety, affordability and the environment.

Here are some of the stories I wrote in 2025 examining the trend and proposing solutions. 🧵

In @vox.com, I likened car bloat to secondhand smoke (which helped bring down the US tobacco industry).
Gigantic SUVs are a public health threat. Why don’t we treat them like one?
The anti-tobacco playbook could help turn the US public against their beloved oversized cars.

Car bloat is limiting driver visibility in other ways, too. For instance, bigger cars require thicker A-pillars (the material btw the windshield and side mirrors).

At intersections, chunky A-pillars can easily conceal a pedestrian or cyclist.
Why Did Cars Get So Hard to See Out Of?
If it seems like forward visibility has gotten worse, you’re right: Since the 1990s, cars and trucks have grown bigger A-pillars that can create dangerous blind spots.

This is a great list! Doing even a few of these can make life in a city so much more fun and healthy for everyone!
“2. Speak at City Hall in SUPPORT of something good for your city, rather than just going to oppose things. And before you oppose something (such as well-designed density, new housing choices, or affordable housing), think carefully about who it’s meant to help, and put yourself in their place.”

“People come up to me and say, ‘Sir, you really are the most corrupt President in history, maybe in the history of the world.’ “
I’m not sure it’s even possible to know for sure, but it’s not outside the realm of possibility that by dollar value Trump is more corrupt than all other American elected officials combined, past and present.
