Carbon monoxide deaths spike during power outages.

If you own a portable generator, make sure you have working carbon monoxide alarms. One portable generator can produce as much carbon monoxide as hundreds of cars.
The latest on the major winter storm and extreme cold expected later this week.

This is what parents of schools in Minnesota are dealing with. Not just needing to be outside in subzero temps protecting their children from armed, masked federal goons, but now having to worry about undercover agents trying to infiltrate their patrols to kidnap children, parents, and teachers.
From a highly reliable friend:
ICE may be dressing in plain clothes to get access to students at schools, and get information about how the resistance is organizing. Be careful who you talk to. Don't engage with strangers with many questions. Vet folks you let into your organizing circles.

This was my review on first watch and I stand by it:

Book 7/100

The timing of reading this one was not a coincidence. This book spoke to me and I took a lot away from it. We could all use a few moments of contemplation about the importance of character, especially our own.

I have been told that this undercover ICE agent tried to get observers to scan a QR code “for his website”. The QR code did not resolve to a link.

DO NOT SCAN UNKNOWN QR CODES FROM STRANGERS.

This is a massive security risk! Bad things can happen to you if you do it!

Stay frosty, friends.
Every day some story breaks me some. Today it’s the guy who approached parents at a school patrol, told them he was with Indivisible, and asked about how the patrol system works. The parents gave vague answers, followed him back to his car — and of course it was ICE.

This could have been the lead story from every news organization in the country if any of them cared that the president is deeply racist.
Trump: "Somalia -- they turned out to be higher IQ than we thought. I always say, 'These are low IQ people.' How did they go into Minnesota and steal all that money?"

I've been waking up each morning to people being surprised that ICE was effectively funded in perpetuity by the One Big Brutal Bill Act six months ago.

It's honestly hard for me to remember that not everyone read the entire text of the OBBBA when it was released.

what the fuck do you mean greenland would cost $700 billion. it’s not for sale
Renaming the Department of Defense would cost taxpayers $125 million. Buying Greenland would cost $700 billion. Donald Trump just gave another $75 billion to ICE. They really don’t care about wasting your taxpayer dollars.

Yesterday a guy emailed me at my directory email, and asked how to format his story for the website. Then asked for my number to talk on the phone to “confirm the legitimacy of my organization.”

When I said no, he asked to meet in person somewhere. Yeah, no, I’ll pass, thanks.

Two big guys walked up front and started yelling at the pilot and the pilot screamed that they weren't going to Davos, they were going to Vienna, Virginia and that he had to get home to his family.

Even after Trump is gone, the world will remember that he threatened to forcibly seize the territory of a peaceful democratic ally, and our institutions failed to immediately remove him. That makes US dangerously unreliable, not just one senile gangster.
His not being impeached by the end of the business day as a result of this threat is as much a problem as the threat itself. It’s not just Trump that the world has to worry about, it’s a GOP that supports him and Democrats who suck their thumbs and refuse to even discuss pushing to remove him
