Something about the confluence of seeing a post about Spanberger ending 287(g) next to one about Homan announcing ICE withdrawing caused me to remember this
emphatically not to distract from the actual, ongoing ICE assault on Minneapolis happening right now, but something that’s been on my mind recently—I think there’s a very nonzero chance Virginia sees a focused ICE assault in the medium term future to punish us for electing Spanberger et al.

Because I could do with a frivolous argument... This is wrong. Encanto has a clear and consistent message and it is that "love is unconditional, both for the giver and for the recipient"
Encanto has some banger songs but one thing that really bothers me about it is that it very transparently has no idea what it wants its message to actually be.

Let us not forget Jonah, who resisted the call as hard as he could until he finally grasped the stakes, did the thing successfully, saved the city, AND WAS STILL PISSED AT GOD FOR MAKING HIM DO IT.
Need less ‘the call to heroism has inspired me to be who i was always meant to be!” narratives and more “this fucking sucks and I don’t want to be here but someone has to do it and goddamnit it looks like that’s me” narratives imo.

I'm reading a book about WWII (you know, for the escapism), and the troops that are rushed through Officer Candidate School to fill out the ranks as marginally trained officers are derogatorily referred to as "90-day wonders."

As an homage to the vanity of POTUS. No wonder the number of violent incidents are going through the roof."

Darden raised $600M in their most recent campaign. Tuck raised $400M in theirs that ended in 2023. Columbia raised $500M in one that ended in 2017. HBS raised $1.4B. Kellogg just announced one with a (low ball) goal of $600M.
He does seem to be good at fundraising and building programs, both of which matter a lot but are not as rare of a skill set as he makes it seem in the book.

There's a sermon to be written about the people wanting every classroom to have "honor your father and your mother" posted, but editing the second commandment to remove "punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me"
