Though Charlottesville's Development Code was briefly on pause in the summer of 2025, plans kept getting drawn up for approval by staff. The latest is a 16-unit building proposed for 1906 Stadium Road near Scott Stadium.

The Albemarle Board of Supervisors is scheduled to adopt a Comprehensive Plan that's been in the works for 4 years. A change was made at the last minute to alter the land use designation for a key property in the county's western urban neighborhood.

The Nelson County Board of Supervisors meet today as well and will get information on water capacity for a 309 acres of publicly-owned land, a report on how Nelson is using the regional jail, and an update on a potential sister city.

The Greene County Board of Supervisors meets tonight and one item on the agenda is action on a rezoning request near the intersection of U.S. 29 / U.S. 33. A vote was delayed in August after concerns about displacement at a nearby mobile home community.

What's in the Comprehensive Plan? This long story summarizes the four parts using audio from an August 26, 2025 work session. There are about 117,000 people in Albemarle and a very, very small fraction have participated in the creation of what planning staff call AC44.

There's been no confirmation yet, but two Richmond-based publications have reported AstraZeneca is looking to build a manufacturing center in Albemarle. The new economic development strategic plan certainly lays framework for such an outcome.
