Unputdownable *is* a word, and it's a bloody good job because Fever House by @keithrosson.bsky.social is exactly that.

Thank you @thehauntedstacks.bsky.social for recommending it as a gift for me

Boris Johnson's slurs are one thing. Keir Starmer overseeing the introduction of a new Section 28 in schools for trans and non-binary people, supporting segregation and backing Wes Streeting as he drives kids to suicide after stripping them of their healthcare is on a whole other level.
i hate it when i mention how bigoted keir starmer is and someone is like 'huh? are you forgetting that boris johnson called gay men bum boys?!'.

no. i haven't forgotten that. that's nothing compared to the shit keir starmer has done.

I wonder how different this week would have been if the Girl Guides' statement had said "we're closing the Girl Guides with immediate effect due to legal threats by transphobic organisations funded by JK Rowling, which we cannot afford to contest".

Could have been the moment the tide turned.

"There's a billionaire threatening to sue the WI through her proxies if they don't throw out their trans members" makes you sound like a lunatic but that is in fact what's happening. Is that good or bad? I think a simple question.

Speaking as the president of an NGO and as a trans woman: when orgs decide to abandon a group, to sacrifice them, it is not that group’s job to “understand how hard it would have been to fight.”

If trans people hope to survive, it is our job to make that abandonment costly as hell.

Make them hurt.

This part is *infuriating*. This cis woman heard an 80 year old trans woman say, 'This is the only place I've been respected as a woman IN MY LIFE.'

And did not immediately think, 'I will fight every inch like a dying badger to keep her in my organization.'

Absolutely pathetic.

"“My hope is that the message that the transgender community gets from this is not one of betrayal, but is one of our desire to continue to maintain those friendships and that support,...when that anger subsides the transgender community will know that we stand with them."

Nope, it's betrayal.
“I spoke to one 80-year-old woman who has been in our organisation for decades, who said it was one of the greatest experiences of her life, and the only place in her 80 years where she’s been treated as a woman with respect.”

I agree, and in particular I would look at things like: It could not possibly have been more obvious that Johnson’s “levelling up” plan was back-of-a-fag-packet bullshit and an insult to the public, the second it was announced. Was it received and explained as a pitch black fraud and an affront?
