On The Pitt, Dr Al-Hashimi is confronted with several massive errors from her genAI medical transcription program that delayed vital care for a patient, and dismisses them as nothing to worry abt as long as you double check. The perfect distillation of AI boosterism. AI is great even when it isn't.

A generation of programmers who've gleefully deskilled these fundamental skills of "paying attention to detail" and "using those details to construct a mental model" is a generation of programmers who can't fucking program.

I saw a live birthed harbor seal pup for the first time in my life today. I thought it would be horrifying because I have a weak stomach, but it turned to UNGODLY CUTE very fast!

Using this thread for some moments in the minutes after. All shot on my z8, edited on phone for now. 🦭 🦑

Probably unreasonable ask, but are any illustrators open to a quick and dirty comm that would require a *very* quick turnaround time?

I would like to go further. There are really only two types of people: 1) those who work for money and 2) those whose money work for them. And if you have to work to provide and pay bills, you’re in group one and should ALWAYS stand in solidarity with the working class.
If you're Black in America and not making north of $100,000 (and have kids and/or own a home), you're essentially working class. I don't like the word "broke." Poor is more apt, I prefer working class because circumstances can change, but you'll never be considered "rich" -- it's tough.

Everything else wrong with this aside, if some part of this makes sense to you:

When you show your papers, and the ICE agent (who is accountable to nobody) says of your real government issued ID "that's a fake" and seizes it, what do you do?
Markwayne Mullin defends "show me your papers": "If you're here legally, there's nothing to hide. Most people already are walking around with a government-issued ID, meaning your Real ID or your driver's license. If you go board a train here, you gotta show your ID."

Those who weren’t resigned to the Math Idiot Garbage Bin as kids may not grasp how much “if you’re bad at math, you’ll die in a ditch and all will be better off for it” sentiment was floating around in the 90s and 2000s, but it sure felt real to me.
