I’ve been a fan of flat-backed millipede species since I found one in a flower bed. I just think they’re neat.

Interestingly, their caterpillars aren’t the type to ingest and process all these noxious compounds into something bitter and disgusting, and then advertise how nasty they taste.

Sassafras has very few insects that will eat it, but they do exist. These are insects that are specialized to consume similarly toxic plants, and have now effectively co-evolved together.
