I don't know, I'm just here because twitter sucks now.

Hey, so as a lot of people are making the leap over here, lots of new followers.

I don't automatically follow back unless I recognize you, or we've interacted - so let me know who you are.

Seriously this place is like Twitter when I first joined it in 2009 or so.
While I was a kid, society voted against the existence of a thriving middle class, and I was lucky enough to escape its collapse.

This ain't the way to the future.

Nothing has ever trickled down.

This is why it's important for professionals to read the memo. And the doctrine the memo is based on. And, if you can, pick a JAGs brain about why the doctrine says what it does.

You know. Or get your makeup on, go on stage and noodle about lethality.

Glorious. What was it Russell Vought said about regime employees? That they should be terrified at work, and ashamed of themselves when they aren't, of something like that?

Great thread.

Know why oxycontin abuse set off a new wave of horrific opioid addiction?

Because when the legal but abused supply was interdicted, addicts couldn't just stop. The market provided, and it was cheap Mexican heroin that started off filling the void. But then, why be tied to a plant?
And, just a side note, but disrupting the supply chain for addictive drugs does nothing to decrease demand. Addicts have run individual experiments on this countless times, trying to get sober by limiting their own access to their favorite drug. Ask a sober person if that worked for them.
The president is about to start a war for no real reason. All of the things he has blamed on the country he’s targeting — fentanyl distribution, “emptying the asylums” and sending patients to the U.S., alignment with Tren de Aragua— are provably, obviously false.

Lots of people are going to die.

The album included one of his most popular songs, Barrett's Privateers. The success of the album, and his growing fanbase at concerts, led to Rogers forming the label Fogarty's Cove Music. It was managed by his mother Valerie and included many notable folk acts.

Ah, for just one time, I would take the Northwest Passage

To see the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea

Tracing one warm line

Through a land so wide and savage

And make a Northwest Passage to the sea
Stan Rogers became one of the most beloved Canadian musicians of the late-20th century.
His songs told the story of Canada, its culture, its people and its history.
Rogers was taken far too soon but his legacy endures.
This is his story.

Though one should always be wary, the last few days have actually been better for Ukraine. Moves against corruption, possible changes mooted in Ukrainian high command, and signs that in Europe, ever so slightly, the gloves are coming off.

After Hegseth suck-starts a pistol, it'll be quite a conversation about which of his utterly horrible, inalienable personality traits drove him to it. The list of failures in his life is literally decades long.

Someone should tell Whiskey Pete what the word "incredible" actually means.
This is a lot of words to say, “Yikes! That Washington Post story about us illegally killing survivors on the open seas was 100% correct!”

"You unquestioningly followed the orders of a man who took dementia tests and bragged about them?"
If we ever get real accountability for the crimes committed by the Trump administration, we'll end up hearing so many disingenuous invocations of the "just following orders" defense.

It can't just be on the teachers and professors. Parents and other members of the community need to stand with them.
This is why OpenAI is selling so aggressively to education at all levels—they want to create entire generations of users incapable of reading, writing and thinking without ChatGPT to hold their hands

And teachers and professors should call this out for what it actually is
To bear out this rosy projection, HSBC assumes that OpenAI will become "as ubiquitous [...] as Microsoft 365" (345mm users worldwide) while bringing in 10x the number of users (3bn).
